Sproutlings Calendar

Wishing all of our Sproutlings families a very Happy Holiday season!!

Peapods

Peapods

As 2024 is quickly coming to an end and some of our Peapods are getting ready to move on to Peapods 2, we would like to thank our parents. You all have worked with us so your child could establish a solid foundation to their preschool years. They are now ready to move forward and enjoy their next exciting chapter.

This week we have enjoyed popping bubbles, crawling into our tunnel, playing with our shape sorter and listening to holiday music. We especially love dancing to the music.

Our books were Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney and Hanukkah Lights by David Martin.

Wishing all of our families a wonderful holiday and a happy and healthy New Year.

Peapods II

Peapods 2 would like to wish all of our families a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year! It is such a pleasure being able to watch each child grow and learn new things each day. Some of our friends will be moving up to Seedlings in the new year! We are going to miss each one of you very much but we know you’re going to do great things in your next Sproutlings adventure!

Seedlings

Seedlings have been in the holiday spirit! We loved listening to Christmas and Hanukkah songs.

We celebrated so many birthday parties and enjoyed special treats. The kids absolutely loved everything that was sent in. We had a wonderful pizza party and our holiday party.

During circle time, we read Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman and sang “Dreidel, Dreidel”. We have so much fun spinning like dreidels along with our usual jumping!

Paige, Hailey, and I want to express much gratitude to the parents in our room for their generosity this season. We’ve loved teaching and being with your children and are sad to see them leaving our room, but can’t wait to watch them grow up.

Happy Holidays to all of our families!

Love,

Paige, Hailey, and Bridget

Little Sprouts

Little Sprouts was very excited to learn about Hanukkah and Christmas. During circle time we sang the good morning song, days of the week, and their ABC’s! We also went over our numbers and talked about the weather. The kids enjoyed making handprint menorahs and had a blast coloring Christmas lights! Storytime was a big hit as we read two wonderful books Five Busy Elves by Patricia Hegarty and Happy Hanukkah, Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. We wish you and your families a happy holiday and a happy New Year!

Beanstalks

What a fantastic way to end the year! This week we discussed some of the different holidays people celebrate during the winter. We loved reading The Twelve Days of Christmas in New Jersey and Light the Menorah. We wish each and every one of you a safe and wonderful holiday break and we’ll see you in the New Year!

Saplings

We have loved learning about different holidays around the world. We started the week by discussing Hanukkah. While learning about Hanukkah, we practiced our colors by matching up dreidels and even played our own game of Dreidel. Our favorite book was Is it Hanukkah Yet? by Chris Barash. We also learned about Kwanzaa this week. We discussed how Kwanzaa is celebrated and matched up letters in our name. Our favorite book was Li’l Rabbit’s Kwanzaa by Donna L. Washington. In the first weeks of the New Year, we are looking forward to learning about snowflakes and snowmen. Happy Holidays and have a wonderful New Year!

PreK 3

PreK 3 has spent the last few weeks of 2024 engaged in learning about many variations of The Gingerbread Man story and various holidays celebrated in December!

We’ve read The Ninjabread Man, by C. J. Leigh, The Gingerbread Baby and Gingerbread Friends, both by Jan Brett,  The Gingerbread Girl, by Lisa Campbell Ernst, as well as The Gingerbread Man, as retold by Jim Aylesworth.

The children created their own gingerbread men with brown paper and various art supplies, they “strung” lights on gingerbread houses using pompoms, they mixed and played with “gingerbread” dough, and completed gingerbread AB and AABB patterns.

Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa are three of the celebrations we’ve been learning about!  We’ve been singing different holiday songs, playing games, creating handprint Menorahs for Hanukkah, designing Kinaras for Kwanzaa, and making handprint Christmas trees for Christmas!

Happy Holidays to all! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa! We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

PreK 4

PreK 4 has had so much fun wrapping up the end of the year. We have been learning about winter holidays around the world and family traditions. The children enjoyed listening to stories such as Zetta the Poinsettia by Alma Hammond, Hanukkah Bear by Eric Kimmel and The Tomten by Astrid Lindbergh.

We worked on making holiday crafts like Nutcrackers, Menorahs, Tomten (gnomes) and Christmas trees. The children particularly loved making secret holiday gifts for their families!

We would like to wish all of you very Happy Holiday and a Wonderful New Year!
