Frequently Asked Questions about Sproutlings
-
Are you a childcare facility or a school?
Sproutlings is an educational childcare center, open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday to accommodate the diverse needs of all families. All of our programs follow a structured schedule, a planned curriculum, and formal educational goals. Our teachers are formally trained in early childhood education.
-
Do you close when the public schools are closed?
Sproutlings closes for major holidays and two staff training days.
Our Kindergarten Wrap and After Care programs run on the New Providence public school schedule. Holiday care is available to school age children during school holidays. -
How do you choose your staff?
We hire lead teachers with a mix of experience and training. All our lead teachers have a minimum of a CDA, or are in the process of completing a CDA. Many of our lead teachers have a bachelor’s degree or higher and are NJ certified teachers. All staff are fingerprinted and have background checks done before starting work. All of our lead teachers and assistants are trained in CPR, First Aid and AED use.
-
Is your center open during the summer?
Yes, enrollment is year-round. In the summer, we have water play for our younger students. For children entering Kindergarten through third grade, we have a weekly summer camp program.
-
How do I drop off and pick up?
Parents walk their child into their classroom each morning. If you need assistance or have other children with you please let us know so our staff can assist you. The first part of our day is free play so that if you are running late your child will not miss Circle Time.
-
Do I have to provide a lunch for my child?
Sproutlings uses a catered lunch company called Simply Gourmet which is an optional service for families to use. Parents simply log onto their website and choose what meals they want. Prices depend on the options that families choose. For families who wish to pack their own lunch, microwaves and refrigerators are available.
-
What is your staff to child ratio?
We follow NAEYC guidelines, which are stricter than state guidelines, to ensure your child gets a high quality of care.

How do I register?
If you're interested in sending your child to Sproutlings, we recommend starting with a tour. Tours are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. After your tour of the center, you may choose to pay a $50 waitlist application fee. If a spot is available, Sproutlings will send an offer letter outlining the deposit and registration fee required to secure your child's spot. If no spot is currently available, we will contact you when one opens up.
