PreK-4
4+ years
Our Pre-K 4 classrooms are designed to inspire confident, curious learners who are preparing for the exciting transition to kindergarten. At this stage, children are becoming more independent, more social, and more eager to understand the world around them. Our educators guide and challenge them through meaningful, play-based experiences that build both academic and life skills.
As Pre-K 4 students grow socially and emotionally, they practice communication, cooperation, self-regulation, and empathy. They also gain confidence in expressing their ideas, making choices, and completing tasks independently—skills that help ensure a smooth, successful start in Kindergarten and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
Individualized Instruction
At Sproutlings, we understand that each child develops at their own pace. Our preschool curriculum is flexible, allowing for individual differences. Some children may be ready for early reading, while others are still mastering foundational skills like the alphabet.
Instruction is individualized to ensure every child is both supported and challenged, building confidence and a strong academic foundation throughout the year. By the end of the program, every child is well-prepared for kindergarten.

Learning Centers
In our Learning Centers, children explore literacy, math, science, and creative expression through hands-on activities that are both engaging and developmentally appropriate.
We focus on building skills like early reading and writing, number sense, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking—all in a fun and supportive environment
Kindergarten Readiness
The core goal of our Pre-K 4 program is preparing children for kindergarten—socially, emotionally, and practically. Independence in self-care is an important part of that process. Children learn to use the bathroom independently, including buttoning and zipping clothing, manage their personal belongings and classroom materials, unpack lunches, open containers, and advocate for themselves by asking for help when needed.
These essential self-help skills build confidence and lay the groundwork for success in the next stage of their educational journey.

Skill Development
- Social-emotional: Strengthening problem-solving skills, participating in a supportive classroom community, demonstrating empathy and compassion, building strong peer relationships, showing independence, developing self-regulation, and understanding fairness and respect for others
- Language and Communication: Following multi-step directions, using complex sentences, retelling stories, writing their name independently, recognizing and writing letters, beginning to read simple words and phrases, expanding vocabulary through discussions and storytelling
- Fine Motor Skills: Mastering correct pencil grasp, using scissors with precision, forming letters and numbers clearly, using a variety of tools for drawing, painting, and building fine motor strength through activities like lacing, beading, and puzzles
- Math Concepts: Recognizing, writing, and counting numbers beyond 10, identifying and creating patterns, understanding simple addition and subtraction using objects and visuals, comparing quantities, measuring, and exploring time and calendar concepts
- Science Concepts: Investigating weather, seasons, and living things, experimenting with basic physical science concepts (push/pull, gravity, light), understanding healthy habits, making predictions and observations during hands-on experiments, and exploring how to care for the environment
- Music: Keeping a steady beat, using a variety of instruments, exploring rhythm and tempo, composing simple songs with peers, expressing themselves through music and coordinated movement
- Large Motor Skills: Improving balance and coordination, hopping, skipping, galloping, catching and throwing with accuracy, participating in team games and early sports skills like kicking a ball, swinging a bat, or following simple group game rules
Beyond the Classroom
Our Pre-K 4 classrooms participate in a variety of enrichment activities, including swimming, music, Stretch-n-Grow, yoga, and ballet. Children also enjoy daily outdoor play on our playground (weather permitting), providing opportunities for physical activity and social interaction. These experiences extend learning beyond the classroom walls and connect students with the wider community.
Summit Speech School
We are proud to announce a new partnership with Summit Speech School. This collaboration provides our students with a unique and enriching educational experience that supports both academic and social-emotional growth. Children in this program will benefit from a comprehensive curriculum that includes Spanish and American Sign Language, fostering early bilingual communication skills. They will also enjoy access to Summit’s spacious outdoor playground and, most importantly, learn about inclusivity and empathy through meaningful interactions with peers who are deaf or hard of hearing. This environment supports the development of strong social skills and a deep understanding of diversity, helping our students become kind, compassionate individuals.
Fostering Community Connections
In our Pre-K 4 class, we continue to foster a strong sense of community—within our classroom, throughout our center, and in the world beyond. Children learn about people and places outside their immediate environment, developing an early understanding of global cultures and a deep appreciation for the diversity of people and communities. We don’t just teach about other cultures—we bring them to life. Children have the opportunity to experience traditions firsthand by welcoming guest speakers into the classroom and participating in cultural customs and celebrations. These meaningful experiences help nurture compassionate, open-minded learners who are aware of and engaged with the world around them.
Special Activities
Our Pre-K 4 classrooms participate in a variety of enrichment activities, including music, Stretch-n-Grow, gymnastics, yoga, and ballet. Children also enjoy daily outdoor time on our playground (weather permitting), providing opportunities for physical activity and social interaction. Pre-K 4 students go on a few trips during the year to attractions such as local parks, farms, the theatre, and more!
Children can bring their own nut-free lunch or order meals (click here for more information).
