Key Card Entry
All families should have 2 key cards for entry into the building. Please notify the administration as soon as possible if you loose a key card so that we can deactivate it (there will be a $15 replacement fee for any lost key cards). When entering the building please make sure the door is closed behind you and do not let anyone you do not know into the building. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Friendly Reminder
Sproutlings will be closed on Friday February 17th (staff development day) and Monday February 20th (Presidents Day).
Peapods
Peapods
We have had some busy and exciting days lately. On a sad/happy note Ms Emily has moved to Peapods 2, we are very happy for her.
Some of us are doing very well with our small building blocks. We are enjoying stacking them on top of one another. What we really enjoyed was knocking down the blocks Ms. Lu built. Ms. Lu read Bring in the New Year by Grace Lin and Winter Rabbit by Patrick Yea. Ms. Laura sang one of our favorites “If You’re Happy And You Know It.”
Peapods II
What a busy few weeks it’s been for our Peapods 2 class! We are a very active group of friends. We’ve been busy painting, building, and getting creative with using the spinning chairs as hats. On top of having so much fun learning and exploring new things, we also have so much to celebrate! We have a first birthday and a new friend who has joined our room. We’re so happy to have you in our class. Not only are we celebrating birthdays and new friends but Ms. Emily recently joined the Peapods 2 room as the new lead teacher.
Seedlings
The Seedlings had such a great start to the week by celebrating one of their classmate’s 2nd birthday. We always love a party and have yummy treats to share! Thank you!
We have been working on our fine motor skills by playing with puzzles. We can’t decide which ones we like better, the foam ones or the wooden ones. We love them both so much!! The Seedlings had fun when we had a bubble party. We love to pop the bubbles when we dance to our favorite songs.
We had fun coloring with our crayons for Groundhog Day! But we like to call the groundhog a bear.
During circle time, we read Mr. Brown can Moo! Can you? by Dr. Seuss and sang “5 Little monkeys Jumping on the Bed”.
Little Sprouts
Little Sprouts had a blast the past two weeks! We loved mixing paint to make different colors! We enjoyed using markers to color hearts to decorate for Valentine’s Day and color groundhogs for Groundhog Day! Even though the weather has been cold we have enjoyed our time playing in the indoor playground. During circle time we enjoyed singing our good morning song and talking about the weather. We liked talking about what we wear in the cold weather! Our favorite book this week was Silly Tilly by Eileen Spinelli and our favorite song was “Party Freeze Dance”
Beanstalks
The Beanstalks have been busy. We enjoyed dancing to songs to celebrate the Lunar New Year. We had fun at Stretch and Grow and our favorite activity was playing with our parachute. We really like it when the parachute when balls on the parachute fly up in the air
Beanstalks II
What a busy two weeks we have had in Beanstalks II. Last week we learned all about Chinese New Year. We made our own lanterns and dragons during art time. Our favorite thing this week was listening to and doing the dragon dance together. This week we are learning all about the four seasons and the groundhog. We have read many books including Mouse’s First Fall by Lauren Thompson and Frozen Noses by Jan Carr. Our favorite art projects this week were making hand hearts for Valentines Day, a pop up groundhog and a groundhog hat. Lastly we have been practicing counting and this week we counted snowman buttons.
Pre K 3
Pre K 3 has been very busy the last couple of weeks. We celebrated Lunar New Year, spoke about the four seasons and learned about Groundhog’s Day. We celebrated Lunar New Year by making red paper lanterns, sewing red envelopes to put coins inside and coloring dragons to scare away bad luck. We learned about the four seasons. The children sponge painted red and yellow leaves on a tree for Fall, counted buttons on snowmen for Winter, rolled the dice to see how many petals to place on the flower for Spring and traced letters in the sand for Summer.
We made a groundhog hat for Groundhog Day. We also learned that the Groundhog saw his shadow so there will be 6 more weeks of Winter.
Pre K 4
Pre-K 4 was busy these past two weeks learning about all kinds of topics including Lunar New Year, groundhogs, snowpeople, and mittens! We read The Mitten by Jan Brett and Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner.
We did many writing prompts where we thought about what a snowman does at night and what a groundhog sees when he pops out of his burrow. We are so creative with our responses. The students are continuing to work on lowercase letters and review writing numbers. Pre-K 4 put together alphabet puzzles and worked on matching rhyming words.
Pre-K 4 also worked on number recognition and worked on simple addition by rolling a die and using counters to figure out the answer. We also made groundhogs to celebrate Groundhog’s Day!
For the following weeks, the children can look forward to learning about dental health and Valentine’s Day! Have a great weekend!
