Peapods

Happy New Year! We hope all our families had an enjoyable holiday. New year, new babies! We are so happy to welcome our new Peapods. We are excited to have you here! Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our “older friends who have moved up to PP2. We know they are going to have such an amazing time. We have been busy popping bubbles and enjoying having stories read to us. Our new friends are learning the room and playing with the toys. Some of us are now learning how to help clean up after dumping the container of toys. It is a big help! We also had fun building with our big blocks and learning how to play with our pop up toys. Our books were Winter Wishes by Gillian Shields and Emmett’s Snowball by Ned Miller. We want to wish a very happy birthday to Catherine! We hope you have a wonderful birthday

Peapods II

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed the long break. We are so excited to be back with everyone and to see what 2026 has in store for us! We welcomed six new friends into our room! As we’ve been getting adjusted to the new year and our new surroundings, we have been talking about winter! We read a new touch and feel book entitled Bright Baby Touch and Feel Winter by Roger Priddy. We also celebrated a first birthday! We can’t believe we’re already two weeks into the new year, let’s see what the next two bring us!

Seedlings

We have been having such a fantastic time getting to know all of the new Seedlings. Everyone is having a lot of fun exploring their new environment, getting to know new friends, and being happy to see familiar ones. The Seedlings learned about snowmen, snowflakes, and mittens. We decorated our room with handprint snowflakes, glued our own snowmen together, created dot art mittens, colored a big snowflake, and made handprint mittens. We love seeing our artwork displayed on our walls. We have been going outside whenever possible and cannot get enough of the fresh air. The children love being able to run around, ride rocket ships, and go down the slides. During circle time, we read Snowballs by Lois Ehlert and sang “Little Snowflake.” We have also been dancing to “Freeze Dance.” The children love shouting “freeze” together and marching around the room to “We Are the Dinosaurs.” Please label all your child’s containers, as many families have the same types. Thank you.

Little Sprouts

The past two weeks have been filled with so much fun and learning! We explored two exciting themes: Snowmen and Mittens! Each morning, we kicked off our day with our Good Morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted together as a class. Storytime was a big hit! We loved reading How to Catch a Snowman by Adam Wallace and One Mitten by Kristine O’Connell George. Our young artists got busy creating giant snowmen, painting melting snowmen, and using dot markers to decorate mittens. We also worked together to color a giant mitten with markers and used stickers. In our sensory bin, we had hands-on fun building snowmen and “ice fishing,” which kept little hands busy and curious. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!

Beanstalks

What a great two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks. We’ve been so excited to have some new friends join our class! Last week we discussed snow and all the fun things we can do in the winter. We had so much fun finger-painting our own melted snowmen. We really enjoyed reading Millions of Snowflakes by Mary McKenna Siddals. This week we are learning about winter clothes and the things we use to stay warm when it’s chilly out. We loved exploring the different shapes hidden in mittens and loved talking about how silly it felt to paint while wearing gloves! Our favorite book this week was The Missing Mitten Mystery by Steven Kellogg. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! We are excited to be back at school learning! Since being back, we reviewed our classroom rules, made a friendship caterpillar and continued working on improving our fine motor skills. Some of the stories we read were It’s New Year’s Day! by Richard Sebra and Please Play Safe! by Margery Cuyler. This week we focused on the Author Jan Brett! We read her books The MittenCozy, and The Hat. We learned a song called The Mitten! We also matched mittens and practiced our pencil grip. We’re ready to continue to learn next week!

Pre-K 3

PreK-3 wants to say a big “Welcome to 2026” to you all! The students finished up the year strong and we’re all so excited to see what comes next! We had plenty of fun having dance parties, yummy snacks, and we even wore some cozy PJs to close off 2025. Now that everyone is back and ready to learn, we went straight into learning about what the whole world just celebrated! The children have been working very hard these past few days learning all about New Year’s around the world! We taught them what people eat and do on New Year’s and how they all celebrate. We even incorporated a lot of patterns, fine motor, and numbers into the children’s education. We also read a lot of books; they loved looking at all the fireworks on the pages and hearing about all the different kinds of parades that occur! To finish the week off, we continued to listen to a lot of music, celebrate birthdays, and even held some science experiments inside the classroom! Some of the first books of the year we read were New Year’s Day by Mari C. Schuh, It’s New Year’s Day by Richard Sebra, Natasha Wing’s The Night Before New Year’s, and P. Bear’s New Year’s Party by Paul Owen Lewis.

Pre-K 4

The kids are happy to be back! We loved hearing about their holiday celebrations. We started the new year learning about snow, snowflakes & snowmen. We had fun making our own crystal snowflakes and seeing pictures of different types of snowflakes. With our Handwriting Without Tears lessons, we wrote letters w, t, a & d. We have also reviewed counting, rhyming words & patterns and learned more about syllables. The books we enjoyed were Sneezy The Snowman by Maureen Write and The Snowy Nap by Jan Brett.
