If you have mislaid your card, please let us know so that we can deactivate it and issue you a new one. There will be a $15 charge for new keycards. If you do not have your keycard at pick up or drop off, please expect a wait. Please do not hold the door open for anyone that you do not know.

We are so excited to welcome six new friends to our classroom! Starting a new routine is a big transition. While some of our new friends have jumped right in and adjusted quickly, others are taking a little more time to settle in. We are focusing on giving lots of extra love, comfort, and cuddles to help everyone feel safe and happy. To help us bond and get to know each other, we have been singing favorite songs, sharing sweet one-on-one moments, and enjoying refreshing stroller rides outside. Amidst all these transitions, our Peapods have been so busy! Some friends are working hard on crawling and navigating the room, while others are practicing their balance and standing on their own. We are so proud of them! We are so excited to watch this sweet group grow and learn together!

Hi everyone! We’re so excited to have 10 new friends and families in Peapods 2! Over the last two weeks we’ve been taking the time to get to know each other and becoming familiar with new faces, friends and routines. We’re so proud of everyone and we can’t wait to grow together! Our water play season has officially kicked off! We had so much fun playing in the water tables and in the sprinkler! We’re looking forward to a fun remainder of summer and we can’t wait to see what is in store for us!

The Seedlings have been enjoying summer so much already! We love water play and think it’s so refreshing. It also gives us so many opportunities to explore sensory activities. Many of us have even been brave enough to play in the sprinkler, where the water sprays up so high! We also had so much fun creating our summer crafts! We used dot markers to decorate colorful beach balls and bubble wrap to paint the ocean for our adorable sharks. One of our favorite activities was having our feet painted to create the cutest little sandal keepsakes! During circle time, we read Beach Babies Wear Shades by Michelle Sinclair Colman and sang and danced to “Baby Shark.” We have also been talking about using our indoor voices instead of our outdoor voices. We have been practicing using quiet voices, keeping our hands to ourselves, and being kind to our friends. We also want to say a big goodbye to one of our favorites, Miss Dani, as she heads back to college. She will be greatly missed by everyone, and we wish her all the best!

The past two weeks in our classroom have been filled with fun as we explored the themes of Ocean Life and Shells! We started each day with circle time, where the children enjoyed singing songs, and learning together. Throughout the week, the children had a wonderful time creating sand buckets filled with shells, handprint crabs, watercolor seashells, and cheerio starfish. We also enjoyed reading There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell by Lucille Colandro, which quickly became a class favorite! The children have also been having so much fun during our first few days of water play! They have loved splashing, exploring, and cooling off with their friends while enjoying the summer weather. We were also so excited to celebrate the 2nd birthday of one of our classroom friends. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another fun week of learning together!

Over the last two weeks, our classroom has been filled with exciting adventures as we explored the zoo and then traveled to the beach! During our Zoo unit, the children learned about zoo animals and zookeepers. We practiced the letter Z using Q-tip painting, developed fine motor skills by drawing stripes on a zebra and cutting paper “grass,” and cooperated to create a beautiful collaborative class lion using torn paper and fork-painted manes. It was wonderful to see the children cooperate, share materials, and take pride in creating such an amazing class project. This week, our classroom transformed into the beach! We discussed beach safety, including the importance of staying close to a trusted adult, wearing sunscreen, and being careful around the water. The children explored sand in the sensory table, painted sandcastles with real sand, and identified colors using a beach ball. To build early math skills, they sorted colorful pearls onto matching seashells and categorized shells by size. One of the biggest highlights of these two weeks was our first Water Play Day! The children were full of smiles as they splashed in the water and ran through the sprinklers. On especially hot days, we stayed active indoors with an exciting obstacle course that practiced gross motor skills like crawling, climbing, and balancing. During Stretch and Grow, the children further developed their coordination and listening skills by sorting animals and throwing balls through hoops. We are incredibly proud of the children’s hard work, teamwork, and creativity over these past two weeks.

What a splash we’ve made in our first two full weeks in Beanstalks II. Last week we talked about the beach. We were very excited to see how many surfers our surfboard could hold before sinking. We really enjoyed reading There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Shell. This week we are talking about the ocean. We loved getting to match our pom pom pearls to the right shell! Our favorite book this week was Swimmy by Leo Leonni. We have all had such a blast getting outside, especially on water play days. We’ve really taken to using the sprinkler to fill cups so we can splash ourselves and our friends. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we’ll see you next week!

We have had such an amazing first two weeks here in our new Saplings class! We began by learning all about the beach, which was the perfect way to celebrate summertime. After exploring the beach, we dove into learning about the ocean and all of the amazing things that live beneath the waves! During our Beach theme, we learned about many of the things you can find at the beach by painting and counting seashells. We also practiced recognizing the letters in our names by matching them to seashells. One of our favorite activities was digging through the sand to search for hidden seashells, just like real beach explorers! After learning about the beach, we began our Ocean theme. We started by creating a beautiful class ocean mural using blue paint and ripped pieces of blue tissue paper to represent the water. We also practiced using our fine motor skills by learning how to safely hold scissors while cutting green strips of paper to create seaweed. We continued strengthening our hand-eye coordination by “going fishing” and using fishing rods to catch colorful fish. Another class favorite was scooping and pouring sand from one bucket to another, which gave us lots of opportunities to practice our coordination while having fun! Throughout these themes, we enjoyed reading wonderful stories together, including The Sand Castle Contest, Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea, and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell. These books helped us learn even more about the beach and the ocean while encouraging our love of reading. We have had such a fun and exciting start to our time in the Saplings classroom! We are so proud of how quickly everyone is adjusting, making new friends, and trying new things. We can’t wait to continue learning, growing, and making wonderful memories together throughout the rest of the summer!

The past two weeks in Pre K 3, we learned about the ocean! “What is in the Ocean?” Well there are crabs, seaweed and animals of all kinds. The children started with matching crabs and shapes then they covered (with stones) the letters in their names that an octopus was holding. We created a cool seed weed picture by dipping a string in paint and dragging it between a folded paper. The children worked hard to paint a sea urchin. They did a beautiful job! The second week, the classes worked on clipping a clothespin to the correct number of legs on a numbered crab. They built a house for a hermit crab with blocks, painted seashells and found letters on starfish! Pre K 3 has been discussing the rules of their new classroom and practicing sharing. We also started water play and the children loved it. Some of our favorite books: Mr. Seahorse by Eric Carle, Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Doreen, Sandy Seal by Suzanne Tate and How Many Fish by Carol Lee Cohen.

Pre-K 4 got off to a great start! We are settling in to new routines and are having fun exploring new things in the classroom. We have been talking about the beach and the ocean enjoying stories such as Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen and Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson. The children having been working on writing skills by making purposeful lines in their Fine Motor Journals and using writing prompts to answer questions. We have also been working on number and letter recognition, counting and patterns. Next week the children can look forward to learning about Sharks!

The past two weeks at camp have been packed with adventure, learning, and tons of fun! The field had lots of fun with laughter, games, and running. A few favorite activities are soccer, obstacle courses, jump ropes, and duck duck goose. We can’t wait to see what other types of games we can play on the field with our friends. On the days we had to stay indoors, we have enjoyed making bead bracelets, playing with Calico critters and learning how board games are played. Operation and Chutes & Ladders are a favorite! We have been building skills during swim lessons and making a splash in open swim. Everyone is becoming more confident in the water! Our afternoons in the courtyard playground have been fun too. Miss Diane showed us how to play musical hoops! Our field trip last week was to Garwood Lanes. We bowled our hearts out and some of us had a strike or a spare. Everyone was so excited and cheered each other on! Our field trip this week to Reeves-Reed Arboretum was a nature-filled day of beautiful plants and walking trails. We even were able to walk through a sprinkler to cool off! Everyone had the BEST time. It’s been a fun-filled couple of weeks and we can’t wait to see what the next couple of weeks will bring!
