Peapods
Things are happening with the Peapods. We celebrated three birthdays these past two weeks! We have been working on our fine motor skills stacking our smaller blocks, and getting very good results! We have also been have a lot of fun racing our little green cars.
Our song has been “Baby Shark” and one of our books was I Love My Mommy by Giles Andrene and Emma Dodd.
We would like to wish all our mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day!
Peapods II
Thank you to all of our Sproutlings families for making teacher appreciation week so special! Everything was greatly appreciated by all. Peapods 2 is continuing to grow and learn new things as the days are passing by. We love reading books and are always signing or asking for ‘more’. Some of our friends even like to read to each other. Our language skills are improving by the day, we love having conversations with our friends and teachers. We can’t wait to see what the following weeks will bring us. Before we know it, it’ll be summer with water play on the way!
Seedlings
What a busy two weeks it has been! We had so much fun celebrating birthdays! We have enjoyed all of the special birthday treats. One of our favorite songs to sing is “Happy Birthday” and we have had a lot of practice lately!
We’ve been working on a secret project and we are so proud of it and can’t wait for you to see them.
The Seedlings have been loving this weather. We have so much fun running around, jumping off the mushrooms in the playground, racing the rocket ships, and climbing up the ramp!
During circle time, we read Pete the Cat, I Love my White Shoes by James Dean and sang “Bingo”. We love the clapping in Bingo so much.
Little Sprouts
Little Sprouts had so much fun learning about life on a Farm and the Zoo. We enjoyed playing wash the farm animals and going over what sounds they make, and playing rescue the zoo animals. A few of our favorite things this week were playing with the parachute, running around on the playground, and listening to Animal Boogie with the story sticks. During circle time we enjoyed singing our Good Morning song, talking about the weather, singing the days of the week and our ABC’s and talking about the animals we find in the Zoo. We loved reading Pete the Cat Old MacDonald Had a Farm by James Dean and Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.
Beanstalks
What an amazing two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we talked about farm animals and used tweezers to decorate our sticky sheep with pom poms! This week we learned all about bugs and talked about some of our favorites- like the worms that come out after rain. We built our own bugs and had a blast looking at all the different insects we found outside on the playground and on our walks to and from the field. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!
Beanstalks II
The last two weeks we have been talking all about the farm! Last week we focused on the animals who live on the farm and who takes care of them. We read some fun books which included The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdon, Cows can’t Fly! by David Milgrim and Boo-Hoo Moo by Margie Palatini. We did some fun activities that included making a paper chick and farm animal counting. We went to the field across the street which was so much fun. This week we focused on the things the grow on the farm like plants, vegetables and fruits. We read Ten Old Pails by Nicholas Heller, Where Does My Food Come From? by Annabel Karmel and Mommy Do You Love Me by Jeanne Willis. We would like to wish all our moms a Happy Mother’s Day!
PreK 3
PreK 3 has been busy learning all about farms. Last week we talked about farm animals. We practiced our counting and fine motor skills with a cut, count, and glue the farm animals project. We created a sheep craft using paper plates, cotton balls, and glue. We also continued learning our ABC’S as we went on a barnyard alphabet hunt! Some of our favorite books included – Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown, Woolbur by Leslie Helakoski, and My Trip To The Farm by Mercer Mayer.
This week we are learning about what kind of plants and food are grown on farms. We’ve worked on our counting skills by completing a tractor count and build activity, we’ve cut and glued corn fields, and we’ve worked on name recognition (last names!), by completing an eggs in the nest project. (Shhh, we’ve also been working on something special for Mother’s Day!). Some of our favorite books this week included – From Kernel to Corn by Robin Nelson, I Will Never, Not Ever, Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child, and Mama Do You Love Me? by Barbara M. Joosse.
We enjoyed taking a walk to the soccer field last Thursday to play in the park! This will be a new weekly adventure, weather permitting! As always we always have fun with the coaches at Stretch and Grow, and singing with Miss Lisa.
PreK 3 wishes all Moms a very Happy Mother’s Day!
PreK 4
It’s been a furry, feathery and scaly two weeks in Pre K 4! The children have been learning about farm life and what goes on at the Zoo!
We have enjoyed books such as Giggle Giggle Quack by Doreen Cronin and Lou’s Zoo and Winston Too by JoAnn M. Dickinson.
The children have been writing journals entries about the things they would have to do as a farmer and a zookeeper. They worked on lowercase letter recognition, beginning letter sounds, syllables and rhyming words.
Math concepts we have been working on were adding and subtracting by 1, number order and patterns.
Next week the children can look forward to learning about Space!
