Peapods
Peapods
We can’t believe it’s the end of November and we’re getting ready for Thanksgiving. The months are just flying by! We have been very lucky to have had nice weather and were able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. We have also been getting into mischief (some) . It’s so much fun getting into things and go where we’re not supposed to. We also have become very interested in books. We love being read to – Ms Lu read The Night Before Thanksgiving by Natasha Wing, which we loved. From the Peapod team we want to wish our families a very Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Peapods II
Peapods 2 would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We’ve spent the last two weeks talking about turkeys and being thankful. We read a new book Thanksgiving Parade published by the Penguin Group. We are looking forward to December and preparing for the new year! Have a great holiday and we hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!
Seedlings
We want to wish all of our Seedlings families a Happy Thanksgiving! We also want to thank our parents for the wonderful Thanksgiving party for our class. They all loved it and couldn’t get enough of it!
We have celebrated Thanksgiving by practicing what a turkey says and we’re quite proud and excited to show how well we can “gobble”. Everyone had a great time making all the turkeys that are decorating our room and especially the sticker color matching turkey.
Little Sprouts
Little Sprouts had so much fun learning about Thanksgiving! Some of our favorite things this week were the obstacle course and jumping from turtle to turtle in the big room. We loved making our handprint turkeys. During circle time we read Five Flying Turkeys by Barbra B. McGrath. Little Sprouts’ favorite song this week is the “Turkey Hokey Pokey”. Little Sprouts wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Beanstalks
What a fantastic two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we talked about seasons and how the weather changes throughout the year! We were so excited to see a little bit of snow on our playground. This week we talked about Thanksgiving and all the things that we’re grateful for. We colored feathers for a class turkey that you can check out in the lobby! We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we’ll see you next week!
Saplings
We have loved learning about the seasons and Thanksgiving the past two weeks. Last week, we discussed the seasons. We talked about clothing you can wear, the weather, and what we can do during every season. Our favorite books were The Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri and When Will it be Spring by Catherine Walters. This week we are discussing what we are thankful for and all about Thanksgiving. Our favorite books from the week are How to Catch a Turkey by Adam Wallace and 10 Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnson. During both weeks we have practiced our fine motor skills, how to spell our name, and number recognition. Have a great Thanksgiving!
PreK 3
Please, Thank you, Excuse me, and I’m sorry are just a few of the phrases PreK 3 talked about last week as we learned about and practiced our good manners!
We played games – such as “share the ice cream”, where we passed a small ball, the “ice cream”, from person to person with our “ice cream cones” after asking the next friend if they would like some ice cream! We practiced table manners by sitting as a group at the table, identifying pictures of typical Thanksgiving food on small paper plates, then asking the person at the next chair if they would care for that particular food, then wait for the reply of “yes, please” or “no, thank you”. Everyone had the chance to sort “Monster Manners” by identifying a manner as good or bad and placing it under the bed (if bad), or allowing it to be placed through the door (if good). The children created a kindness flowers and buckets filled with kindness and good deeds!
Some of the books we read were Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems, Blurps Book of Manners, by Cindy Derby, Have You Filled Your Bucket Today?, by Carol McCloud.
This week has been all about Thanksgiving! The children have been working on reviewing numbers by matching the number of feathers to the number on turkeys, they’ve worked on fine motor skills by peeling and sticking dot stickers on turkey feathers, we’ve worked on scissor practice as we’ve created a turkey craft. Some of our favorite books have included – Thanksgiving Day, by Cadie Buckholdt, The Turkey Train, by Steven Metzger, and Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks!, by Margaret Sutherland.
PreK 3 wishes all of our families a very Happy Thanksgiving!
PreK 4
We had fun in Pre K 4 learning about corn, scarecrows and turkeys. The children enjoyed the book The Scarecrow’s Hat by Ken Brown.
This week we were busy working on letter recognition and identifying numbers. Our Handwriting Without Tears letter was the letter J. The children also enjoyed making Turkey Art in anticipation of Thanksgiving.
Next week the children can look forward to Gingerbread activities.
Happy Thanksgiving from all in PreK 4.
