Peapods
We were very lucky to have been able to see the dinosaurs that visited Sproutlings last week. Some of us were even able to touch them! It was very exciting.
We have been practicing using our fine motor skills with our different shape sorters. Sometimes it can be tricky but we are determined! We have also been building with our blocks and loving knocking them down.
One of the books read was One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Jane Cacers.
Peapods II
Summer is quickly coming to an end but Peapods 2 is still making the most out of these warm days! We had a great water play season and we are sad to see it come to an end.
Peapods 2 has been learning about dinosaurs and insects over the last two weeks. We read a new book titled Where’s the Ladybug? by Ingela P. Arrhenius. It is a fun interactive book with felt flaps that we are able to pull down and reveal different types of insects and creatures, it’s one of our favorites! We are looking forward to the rest of summer and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!
Seedlings
The children had such an exciting week! Ms. Paige put on a Three Little Pigs puppet show and the kids absolutely loved it. They had so much fun watching the story come to life.
We also had a fantastic time learning about dinosaurs. The children enjoyed stomping around the room like dinosaurs, using their imaginations and lots of energy.
During circle time, we read Twinkle, Twinkle, Mermaid Blue by Jeffrey Burton and Five Little Mermaids. The children loved listening to the stories and joining in with the fun.
To wrap up the week, we explored the magical world of mermaids and pirates. The kids had a blast making their very own mermaid tails and pirate boats, and they worked together to color a big mural featuring both a mermaid and a pirate.
Little Sprouts
The past two weeks have been filled with lots of fun and learning! We dove into two exciting themes: Pirates and Mermaids! Each morning, we started our day with our Good Morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted together as a class. We loved reading Goodnight Mermaids by Adam Gamble and Goodnight Pirates by Michelle Robinson. We used dot markers to design our own pirate flags. We used tissue paper and markers to color and decorate beautiful mermaids. The children loved exploring our sensory bin full of “treasure” and seashells.
Beanstalks
What a fantastic two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks. With summer drawing to a close, we’ve really been enjoying the cooler weather and trying to make the most out of our last few water play sessions. We’ve also had a great time playing in the sandbox and have really enjoyed seeing what our friends make with all the different toys available. Last week, we discussed Dinosaurs. We loved listening to “We Are The Dinosaurs” by Laurie Berkner and getting to stomp around the room like dinos. Our favorite book last week was Rappy the Raptor by Dan Gutman. This week, our focus was on birds! We were so excited to make our own birdwatching binoculars out of recycled toilet paper tubes and can’t wait to get outside and use them. We really enjoyed reading If You Were A Penguin by Florence and Wendell Minor and singing “Five Little Ducks”. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!
Saplings
The past two weeks in the Saplings classroom have been dino-mite as we explored all things dinosaurs and fossils! The children have been so engaged as we learned about different types of dinosaurs, how fossils are formed, and even practiced our roaring. We’ve been working on color recognition through dinosaur-themed art and activities, strengthening our fine motor skills. Some of the books we’ve enjoyed together include Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner, Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp by Carol Diggory Shields, and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs by Paul Stickland, along with a few more fun and informative stories. We can’t wait to see what we learn about next!
Pre-K 3
Pre K 3 has been learning about Dinosaurs the past couple of weeks. The children made fossils, matched dinosaurs letters and sorted dinosaurs by size. They made their favorite dinosaur from a variety of shapes. The children practiced their fine motor skills by using tweezers to pick up pom-poms and match correct color onto dotted dinosaurs and also clip clothespins to make spines for a stegosaurus. The classes created their own volcano and made it erupt for a science project.
Some of our favorite were Curious George And The Dinosaur by Margret and H A Rey, How Do Dinosaurs Go To School by Jane Yolanda and Mark Teague and One More Dinosaur On The Floor by Kelly Starling.
Pre-K 4
Over the last two weeks, PreK 4 has been learning about dinosaurs and sweets. While learning about dinosaurs, we had special visitors from Dinosaur Alive. Children loved seeing and interacting with all kind of dinosaurs and even got to brush a T-Rex’s teeth!
Throughout both weeks we have been working on number and letter recognition by matching dinosaur letters, finding and tracing numbers, and counting “eggs” to put in a dinosaur nest. We have also been practicing our fine motor skills by using scissors to make a donut and by drawing a dinosaur. We loved reading the books How to Catch a Dinosaur by Adam Wallace and The Smart Cookie by Jory John.
Next week, we are looking forward to learning about ice cream!
Summer Camp
The past two weeks at camp have flown by as we started wrapping up our summer with more exciting activities, outdoor fun, and memorable experiences.
Last week, we welcomed Dinosaurs Arise to our main building. Campers enjoyed a hands-on learning experience where they discovered fascinating dinosaur facts, danced the Dino Dance, fed a Triceratops, and excavated dinosaur bones like real paleontologists. A highlight for many was meeting Terry the T-Rex—campers even had the chance to walk him and brush his teeth!
This week brought beautiful weather, which allowed us to enjoy several outdoor adventures. We walked to open swim on Monday and Thursday afternoons, and thanks to cooperative skies, we made it to swim lessons on Wednesday morning just before the rain rolled in.
Throughout both weeks, campers spent plenty of time outside—playing at the field in the mornings and enjoying the courtyard playground in the afternoons. Rainbow Loom bracelet-making was a big hit and continued throughout the day. A group of campers worked collaboratively on completing a 500-piece puzzle, demonstrating fantastic teamwork. Miss Chaveen taught campers how to make Rex Lace lanyards, while Miss Diane brought large foam circles and balls to create a fun and active bowling game.
As we prepare to say goodbye to summer camp and hello to the new school year, we reflect on all the laughter, learning, and friendships that have made this season so special.
We wish all of our campers a happy, healthy, and successful school year ahead!
