Peapods
We have been so fortunate to have been able to get outside every day! We hope this beautiful weather continues so we can take advantage of it. Playing peek a boo has become a favorite of ours. We even try to imitate our teachers when they play it with us. There are many giggles from everyone. Our new friends are enjoying our bubbles. They love watching them fall to the ground and some love to try and pop them.
We have also enjoyed the many songs sung and stories read to us. One we really enjoyed was Best Bear by Emma Dodd.
Peapods II
Happy September! Here in Peapods 2 we have been discussing the theme of “All About Me”. We read a new book titled Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes by Judy Hindley and have been singing “Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. Our current Peapods 2 friends have been doing an awesome job at making our new friends feel comfortable by bringing them toys, offering hugs, and waving “hello” to them! We are looking forward to the next two weeks and seeing what this new month will bring us!
Seedlings
We’re so excited to begin the new school year and to welcome some new faces. We’re also very happy to welcome Ms. Madiyson to our room.
This week, we had a wonderful time learning about birds and exploring feathers and rubber ducks. The children were especially focused on placing feathers on a bird, which kept us happily engaged for quite a while.
We’ve also been enjoying the crisp morning weather out on the playground. One of our favorite moments has been sliding down while joyfully shouting “Wheee!” It has been such a fun way to start our mornings.
During circle time, we’ve been singing and dancing to Freeze Dance. The Seedlings have so much fun shouting “Freeze!” while moving their hands, and we also enjoyed reading Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert.
Little Sprouts
The past two weeks at Little Sprouts have been full of fun and learning! We explored two exciting themes: Insects and All About Me. Each morning, we began our day with our Good Morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted together as a class. We enjoyed storytime with Ten Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth and Hey! Look at You! by Sandra Boynton. Our young artists had a wonderful time expressing their creativity using dot markers to design self-portraits and finger painting cheerful ladybugs. We also had so much fun learning about music with Ms. Lisa, exploring our sensory bin, and rolling the beach ball to one another during playtime. Wishing everyone a happy and restful weekend!
Beanstalks
What a fantastic two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks. Last week we discussed space . We were so excited to make our own planets to add to our class solar system. We really enjoyed reading There’s No Place Like Space by Dr. Seuss and singing “Rocketship Run” by Laurie Berkner. This week we were so thrilled to have several new friends join us. We spent this week learning all about our classmates! We loved exploring the similarities and differences between us. Our favorite book this week was ABC I Like Me! by Nancy Carlson. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!
Saplings
And just like that… we’re back! Last week, we explored a fun camping theme where we learned about all the exciting things we can do and eat while camping. The children practiced their fine and gross motor skills through cutting activities and number recognition games. Some of the books we enjoyed included S is for S’mores by Helen Foster James and Curious George Goes Camping by Margret & H.A. Rey.
This week, we shifted into our Back to School and Classroom Rules theme, perfect for starting the year off right! We’ve been busy practicing how to use scissors safely, learning how to recognize and spell our first names, and working on a fun dice game where we counted and collected crayons. We also read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books! by Lucille Colandro and If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff. We are so excited for everything this new school year has in store and can’t wait to continue learning and growing together. Happy learning!
Pre-K 3
The last week of summer and the beginning of a new school year, Prek3 has been enjoying it all!
Last week we finished up our summer by learning about camping! We reviewed colors with a tent color matching game, reviewed shapes with a campfire shapes activity, reviewed letters with a s’mores alphabet matching game, matched marshmallow numbers, and sorted camping and non- camping items. It was a very busy week! Some of our favorite books included Curious George goes Camping by H. A. Rey, and Pete the Cat Goes Camping by Kimberly and James Dean.
This week has been about back to school! We’ve been meeting new friends, greeting new teachers, and getting ready to learn how to learn! All of the children created a handprint craft based on a book we read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and Wemberly Worried by Kevin Henkes. Everyone worked on their fine motor skills by using playdough to review the letters in their names and using dot markers to create a crayon craft for the bulletin board in the center room.
Prek3 is looking forward to an exciting year of learning!
Pre-K 4
Pre-K 4 has been learning about ice cream and Back To School. We had lots of discussions about favorite flavors and toppings and how we like to eat our ice cream. We read books, such as Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems and The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
We have been working on shape and letter matching with popsicles and ice cream cones and making patterns with ice cream and crayons. We have started to learn about Handwriting without Tears and how to correctly form letters and we are working on writing our names.
Next week is All About Me! Have a great weekend!
