Peapods

The Peapods have been having a great time as we wind down the summer months. We have been enjoying the weather outside and hopefully it will continue. We are growing so fast! One of us is beginning to take a few steps, another is practicing balancing, and many are crawling all over (and under) everything.

We had so much fun crawling in and out of our tunnel. Some of us wanted to stay in it but eventually came out. We have been practicing building with our blocks trying to stack them and working on our ring stacking toy. We’re getting pretty good at it and feeling very proud.

One of the books read to us was Pigloo by Anne Marie Pace and our favorite song continues to be “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”

Peapods II

What an exciting two weeks it has been here in Peapods 2! We celebrated three first birthdays! We want to wish our classmates a very happy first birthday, we can’t wait to see what this next year will bring you! We have some new walkers in our class, so we have been busy on the move. While some are learning to walk still and others are crawling, we have been having so much fun building blocks, reading stories and playing with the baby dolls. We have been working on introducing some sign language into our communication skills, we love signing “more” and “please”. September has been off to a great start and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the month will bring!

Seedlings

What a busy couple of weeks it has been. We celebrated a birthday. The children absolutely love a good birthday party and had so much fun singing Happy Birthday or giving it their best try.

The Seedlings have been enjoying their outdoor time, especially now that fall is starting to arrive. We had a great time collecting as many leaves as possible and putting them into a bin. The children loved seeing how many leaves we gathered, then dumping them out and doing it all over again.

We also enjoyed drawing our self-portraits and creating a handprint tree. The Seedlings were especially excited to make their families using handprints. We adore our little houses with our families inside them.

During circle time we’ve been reading I Need A Hug by Aaron Blabey and singing “Finger Family”.  We love been able to use our fingers during the song!

Friendly reminder to please label all your child’s belongings! Have a great weekend!

Little Sprouts

The past two weeks have been filled with lots of fun and learning! We dove into two exciting themes: Feelings, and Family! Each morning, we started our day with our Good Morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted together as a class! We loved reading Happy, Sad, Mad & Glad by Nacey Parent and The Family Book by Todd Parr! Our young artists got creative and made handprint feeling monsters and finger families! We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Beanstalks

What a wonderful two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks. Last week we discussed our families.  We loved using watercolors to paint our families and really enjoy talking about how our families are the same and different. We really enjoyed reading Sophie Beer’s Love Makes a Family and singing the Finger Family Song. This week we are learning about our feelings! We loved painting our feelings and talking about all the different things that make us feel happy or excited. Our favorite book this week was The Feelings Book by Todd Parr. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

In the Saplings classroom, we talked about all about us! We learned that we all are different and unique! In large group we made a chart of what color our eyes are and learned that some of our friends have the same colored eyes. Our story we read was It’s Okay to be Different by Todd Parr.

This week we focused on emotions and how to be a good friend. As a group we reviewed what red and green choices are and ways  we can be a good friend! We also talked about where to go in the classroom to calm down and ways we can help ourselves calm down when we are upset. We read Glad Monster, Sad Monster by Ed Emberley. We did an emotion matching game and worked on our fine motor skills with lacing beads, and playing with Play-Doh. We had a fun week learning and excited for next week!

Pre-K 3

September has been an eventful month so far. Pre K 3 has been learning about us and our friends. The beginning of the month was “All About Me”. We started the week by creating a collage of ourselves and we measure our heights. The children practiced finding their letters of their name in a look and find page.

This week, the classes have been going over green and red choices and discussing feelings. .

We created a Friendship Caterpillar to decorate each classroom. The class created a preschooler book together to read throughout the year. The children created rainbow fish and monster crafts.

Some of our favorite books were I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont, Should I Share My Ice Cream? By Mo Williams, Llama, Llama Time To Share by Anna Dewdney and Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

Pre-K 4

Pre-K 4 has been very busy learning about themselves with our All About Me activities. We graphed eye colors, hair color, measured our shoes and wrote about some of our favorite things like our favorite color and food. The children enjoyed books such as I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont and The Skin You Live In by Michael Tyler.

We started our Apple investigation so far the children learned about the different parts of an apple and the life cycle of an apple. We taste tested different apples based on their color and graphed our favorite one. The children were excited to make and sample applesauce! We measured and stirred and learned how to follow a recipe.

Next week, we will continue investigating apples and as well as learning about Squirrels and Autumn.
