Peapods
The past few weeks have been full of excitement and growth! We are so proud of our little ones who are beginning to stand independently; it’s wonderful to watch their confidence grow day by day. We also have a very active group of crawlers and army crawlers. Everyone is on the move! Our days have been filled with music and sensory play. We’ve loved blowing bubbles and singing along to our favorite song, “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” We also played with our tunnel recently and it was so fun! We’ve started our St. Patrick’s Day art projects and can’t wait to share them with you.
Peapods II
Another month has come and gone! Over the last two weeks we celebrated Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year! We read a new book titled Busy Lunar New Year by Campbell Books and have been talking about the year of horse. With the snow storm passing, we had an opportunity to touch and explore some snow during sensory plays. We have been practicing using our words to go along with our signing and we have been doing an awesome job! We’ve been encouraging and practicing our self-help skills by cleaning up and using utensils when we eat. We are looking forward to March and hopefully some warmer days ahead!
Seedlings
The Seedlings had so much fun over the past two weeks! We were able to go outside to our playground. They were thrilled to run outside with our fast shoes, ride the rocket ships, and jump off the mushrooms. We learned about the Lunar New Year. We were excited to learn it is the Year of the Fire Horse, and that is one of our favorite animal sounds. We colored a picture of a horse and made paper plate dragons in the colors red and yellow. We also learned about dental health. We talked about going to the dentist, which many of us have done before, and about our teeth. We colored a big toothbrush and did dot art with a tooth and a toothbrush. The children have been enjoying washing some of our toys, animals, and blocks in our sensory bin with soapy water and paintbrushes. They tried to clean every nook and cranny. During circle time, we read The Rice in the Pot Goes Round and Round by Wendy Wan-Long Shang. We really enjoyed that book because it is sung to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus, one of our favorites. We also sang and danced to My Shiny Teeth and Me.
Little Sprouts
Little Sprouts had so much fun over the past two weeks as we learned about Lunar New Year and dental health. Each morning, we started our day with the good morning song, practiced our ABC’S and numbers, practiced our days of the week and sang about the weather! We explored our creativity by making paper plate lanterns and dot art a horse for the year of the horse! We also painted our own teeth and used tissue paper to make a tooth! Little Sprouts enjoyed reading Brush! Brush! Brush! by Douglas Florian and Busy Lunar New Year by Campbell books. Little Sprouts enjoyed using a toothbrush to clean the toy people’s teeth! We hope everyone has a great weekend!
Beanstalks
We had so much fun these past two weeks in Beanstalks! We finished learning about Lunar New Year and are learning all about Dental Health Week! We read Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas by Natasha Yim, and read The Twelve days of Lunar New Year by Jenna Lettice. We used stamp pads to create our paper lanterns for our class. We enjoyed using our sensory bin filled with gold coins and red rice and spoons and cups and worked on filling the cups with spoons. This week the class created paper toothbrushes for dental health week. We used scissors to cut paper bristles and glued the cut paper down to the toothbrush handle. Our sensory bin this week has little tooth cards with letters on them, with toothbrushes the kids will clean the tooth. We also had so much fun playing with coaches during Stretch and Grow! Over the next weeks, we will move into learning about Read Across America!
Beanstalks II
What a wonderful two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks II. Last week we celebrated the Lunar New Year. We had so much fun opening our red envelopes. We really enjoyed reading Lunar New Year by Hannah Eliot and doing the moves to Dragon Dance. This week, we are learning about Dental Health. We loved working on our fine motor skills using play doh and painting with toothbrushes. Our favorite book this week was My Toothbrush Is Missing by Jan Thomas. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend and we’ll see you next week!
Saplings
Greetings friends and family! We have learned about so many fun and exciting things these past 2 weeks. We learned about many topics like The Winter Olympics to Valentine’s Day and even Dental Health! We sorted the shapes and colors of The Olympic Rings. We also shredded gold tissue paper to paste onto our gold medal and hand painted a Valentine’s Day tree! We learned about the Chinese New Year and practiced our scissor skills. We also learned about dental health and counted the number of teeth in a smile and painted with a toothbrush! Our favorite books were Hippo’s Tooth Surprise by Marjorie Dennis Murray and How to Catch a Dragon by Adam Wallace. We can’t wait to learn more next week when we celebrate Read Across America week!
Pre-K 3
The past two weeks in Pre-K 3 have been busy! Last week, we celebrated the Lunar New Year. The children had fun coloring, cutting and putting together a lantern! The lanterns are now decorating our room and they look beautiful. The class laced together red purses and counted out eight coins to place inside the purse! The children created a special dragon. At the end of the week, the two classes came together to celebrate the week with a dragon parade! This week, we are learning about dental health. Our week was shortened due to the snow but we had time to learn how to floss our teeth using a Lego block. We use play dough to create tooth related items such as toothpaste bottles, toothbrushes, and floss. The class cleaned a tooth that had a cavity on it. My tooth had a variety of numbers hidden under the cavity. We gave it cavities by coloring it with a black expo marker, and then the children took a cloth to erase the cavity and find the number underneath. Next week, we will celebrate Read Across America week!
Pre-K 4
Pre-K4 has been learning about dental health and how to keep our body healthy. We discussed foods that are good for our teeth, healthy habits for our body and had a visit from the dentist. Some of the books we enjoyed were The Teeth that Looked for a New Mouth by Jill Jones and Monsters Don’t Eat Broccoli by Barbara Jean Hicks. We also worked on rhyming, syllables & beginning letter sounds. The kids learned lowercase letters p, r, n and m and had fun brushing the numbers. Next week we are looking forward to surprise readers for Read Across America!
