Peapods
Peapods
We said a sad goodbye to our “old” Peapods. They have moved on to new adventures and we say welcome to our newest Peapods. We are excited to have them join our class. We are looking forward to getting to know each other and grow and develop many new skills in the coming months.
Peapods II
Hi everyone! We want to send our wishes to our friends who moved up to their new classes! We are so proud of all of you and we can’t wait to see what your next chapter at Sproutlings will bring each and every one of you! We want to welcome our new friends to our class along with their families! We have been off to a great start. We have been taking the time to get to know each other and explore our new surroundings. We started water play this week and it was a big hit! We are looking forward to the remainder of our summer together and we are excited for what is to come!
Seedlings
We’ve been having so much fun in the Seedlings room! We’re getting to know all the children and getting them to learn their new routine. Everyone is doing wonderful so far!
The Seedlings have enjoyed doing art projects with Ms. Paige. They absolutely loved painting a cool looking sun with some nice shades of yellow and then making some refreshing ice pops. We’re excited to hang them up for everyone to see! The Seedlings also have been reading some great books with Ms. Hailey.
The children are loving water play and can’t get enough of the water tables and splash pad! Please remember to label ALL their items for water play.
During circle time, we read Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andrea and sang “Wheels on the Bus”.
Little Sprouts
Little Sprouts has had so much fun learning about the beach and seashells! Some of our favorite centers were our ocean sensory bin, bristle blocks, trains, and puzzles! We loved water play! Especially when we got to splash around in the splash pad! During circle time we sang our Good Morning song and talked about the weather. We loved reading Goodnight Jersey Shore by Adam Gamble and It’s a Seashell Day by Dianne Ochiltree.
Beanstalks
What an awesome first two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we were so excited to check out all the new toys and explore our new classroom. This week we learned about the beach and some of the animals you might find there. We practiced sorting by color and used dot markers to decorate our very own seashells. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!
Saplings
Welcome to Saplings! We had a great first two weeks. It has been fun exploring the different centers in our classroom and learning our class routine. Last week, we learned and talked about the places you can go and activities you can do in the summer. In addition, we talked about how we can celebrate the 4th of July and loved reading the book The Night Before the 4th of July by Natasha Wing.
This week we have been learning about camping. We talked about s’mores, animals you can see, and painted our own campfire using an aluminum foil stamp. In addition, we have enjoyed many books such as Pete the Cat Loves Camping by James Dean and The Tent Mouse and RV Mouse by Lorette Sponsler. Throughout both weeks, we have practiced counting and recognizing numbers to 5 and worked on our pencil grip.
We look forward to learning about the ocean/beach and ocean animals in the next two weeks!
PreK 3
Hello and welcome to Prek3! The children’s transition to their new classrooms has been smooth and fun.
Last week was a quick week where we talked about picnics and the 4th of July. Everyone created a sailboat for our summer bulletin board in the center area between the two PreK 3 rooms. (Be sure to have your child show you which boat is theirs!) All of the children also had an opportunity to work on making their own American flag. The weather also cooperated and we were able to take a neighborhood walk! Some of our favorite books were The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach and Red,White, and BOOM! by Lee Wardlaw.
After returning from our long 4th of July weekend, we started learning about camping. We also started water play and Stretch and Grow on a weekly basis! The children had fun with a camping tent color match, working on a camp sort, and an ABC match. Some of our favorite books of the week included – Camping Spree with Mr. MaGee, by Chris Van Dusen, Curious George goes Camping, by Margret and H. A. Rey, and Maisy goes Camping, by Lucy Cousins.
Of course everyone had a great time with water play and Stretch and Grow! Thank you Coach Diane and Coach Linda
We look forward to more learning fun throughout the summer!
PreK 4
Welcome to Pre K 4! The children did very well settling into their new classroom and new routines.
Last week, the children learned a little bit about America as we celebrated Independence Day. We talked about American symbols such as the Statue of Liberty and the Bald Eagle, the children enjoyed learning facts about both. This week we shifted our attention to sharks. The children learned some facts about sharks, the parts of a shark and what types of sharks there are. We had fun making our own sharks out of construction paper.
The children enjoyed reading the books There Was An Old Mermaid Who Swallowed A Shark by Lucille Colandro and Clark the Shark by Bruce Hale
Next week will be talking about Sea Life.
