Peapods

Peapods I

The Peapods were  very excited to help decorate our room for St. Patrick’s Day. We had so much fun “painting “ our shamrocks. We love to use our fingers to move the paint around and we also loved patting the squishy paint onto our shamrocks. We hope everyone enjoys our artwork. Ms. Lu read a fun book this week titled The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day by Amy Wummer. Ms. Laura and Ms. Melissa sang “Take Me out to the Ball Game,” we especially liked the root, root, root part!

Peapods II

Happy Friday and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone! What a fun and green filled week we had! This week we talked about so many of the things that are the color green and looked at the difference between light green and dark green. We used our great sensory skills and mixed some paint in a plastic bag. We mixed together white and a little bit of dark green paint that created light green! There was a picture of a shamrock on it. As usual we listened to some great stories and danced around to our favorite songs in some bubbles! We had a great time outside in the sun! Have a great weekend everyone!

Seedlings

We had such a lovely week in the Seedlings room! We enjoyed our St. Patrick’s Day party and want to thank all the parents who helped make it happen. The kids loved enjoying all the sweet treats!

We decorated shamrocks by gluing orange, yellow, and green tissue paper.  It was a lot of fun putting any or all the colors in the glue and seeing what happens. We also colored a huge green shamrock then we hung it on our wall.  We’re so proud of it!

We got to enjoy a lot of playground time this week when it wasn’t raining.  It was so beautiful that the Seedlings didn’t want to go back in! We were thrilled to learn how to balance ourselves on the mushrooms.

During circle time, we read The Animal Boogie by Debbie Harter and sang/danced to “Move by Super Simple”.  We can’t get enough of that song!!

Little Sprouts

This week in Little Sprouts we celebrated St Patrick’s day! We had so much fun playing in our sensory bin with gold coins and shamrocks. We had fun doing a gold coin scavenger hunt! Ending the week with a St Patrick’s day party with lots of yummy treats! Our favorite song this week was “Five Green Shamrocks” by the Kiboomers.

Beanstalks

This week in Beanstalks we talked about the letter W and St Patrick’s Day! We began the week talking about the things that start with the letter W, such as a wagon, waffle and watermelon and we made a wagon with the letter W. On St. Patrick’s day we discussed what color we wear, how leprechauns are tricky and that they love pots of gold. We read Pete the Cat: The Great Leprechaun Chase,  Jack and The Leprechaun and Looking for Leprechauns. We sang some songs, our favorites were “ Leprechaun Leprechaun” and “ Dance Leprechaun Dance”. We made a leprechaun hat, a rainbow shamrock and a pot of gold. We also played with play dough to work on our fine motor skills.

Beanstalks II

We had lots of fun in Beanstalks II this week. We continued to learn all about pets and we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. We practiced counting and our numbers by putting fish into a fish bowl. On St. Patrick’s Day we created a painting using different kinds of stamps and some green paint. We are enjoying lots of outside time now that the weather is warmer!

Saplings

We continued our study on pets in Saplings. This week we focused on where pets live in our house. We already knew that fish live in a bowl or a tank and birds live in a cage but we also talked about different places cats, dogs, reptiles, and more live in. We read Little Kids First Big Book of Pets from National Geographic Kids, Not Norman by Kelly Bennett, and our absolute FAVORITE book of the week, The Doghouse by Jan Thomas. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by creating collage shamrocks and the leprechaun came to visit and made such a mess! There was paint and books everywhere. Saplings played shape matching games and we worked on finding the letters that are and are not in our name. We also worked on creating AB patterns and made snakes! Next week, we will focus on how to take care of our pets. Have a great weekend!

Pre K 3

This week in Pre K 3 we focused on where pets live. We learned that pets live in different places. We read  Maggi and Milo by Juli Brenning and Swimmy by Leo Lionni. We matched pets to their homes! We also designed our own aquarium for our pet fish. We added seaweed and pebbles to our aquarium. We helped the dog find its way back home by rolling the dice and moving that many spaces. We made our own pet fish! Adding gills, scales, and more!

Also, this week we did a few St.Patrick’s Day activities! We counted gold coins and added them to our pot! We decorated shamrocks with green tissue paper. We searched for gold letter coins hidden in rainbow beads. Our two favorite books were Looking for Leprechauns by Sheila Keenan and The Littlest Leprechaun by Brandi Dougherty. We tried to catch our own Leprechaun but his was too quick!! Although he did leave a treasure hunt for us and at the end we found a pot of gold!

Pre K 4

The themes in Pre K 4 this week were St. Patrick’s day and the pond. The children enjoyed working on their fine motor skills while doing their weekly journal, a writing prompt and completing Handwriting Without Tears. Additionally they answered a question of the day every day. A few questions included – How much gold can fit in a pot?, What swims faster a duck or a fish? and Would you rather be a leprechaun or a unicorn?

Other activities we focused on throughout the week included number clip cards, filling in the missing number and pond addition.  Later in the week we focused on rhyming words, a lowercase letter search and letter matching.

During large group we discussed the life cycle of a frog, what we know about turtles and who lives in a pond. The children were fascinated to learn the differences between a toad and a frog.

A few of the books that were read during the week were In The Small Small PondFroggy Goes to Hawaii and There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Frog.
