Peapods

Peapods

We have been loving watching the color on our trees change as the seasons are changing. With the weather changing, we have been enjoying our indoor time exploring new toys as well as music time. We really enjoy listening to our teachers read Ten little Pumpkins by Jay Johnson to us. We have particularly enjoyed Ms. Laura’s singing time! Some of us even join in!

Peapods II

Two weeks have come and gone. These past two weeks we have had some fun exploring pumpkins and learning about Firemen. We loved having our own pumpkins to explore. We especially loved the sounds the pumpkin seeds made in our sensory bottles make. We have been listening to music and have learnt all the moves to ‘The Wheels on the Bus’. We can’t wait to see what the next two weeks hold!

Seedlings

The Seedlings have been having so much fun lately!  We have celebrated two birthdays already this month and there are more to come!

We have been enjoying the Fall weather. It’s so exciting to collect the leaves and throw them up in the air.  We painted our own leaves! It was lots of fun to use a sponge to make such a cool effect. We also used bags and made orange paint by mixing red and yellow.

During circle time, we read Because of an Acorn by Lola M. Schaefer and Adam Schaefer. That book has become the class favorite and we’re always reading it. We sang “The Leaves are Falling” and we think it’s hilarious to fall down on the floor like leaves.

Little Sprouts

Little Sprouts has had so much fun learning about Fire Prevention and Leaves! Some of our art projects were coloring fire trucks and using crayons to make leaf rubbings. Some of our favorite centers were shape sorting, finding the letters in the leaves, and our water sensory bag! We are very excited every Wednesday morning when Ms. Lisa comes to sing with us. She taught us Little Bunny Foo Foo this week. We loved reading Marshall to the Rescue by Big Golden Book and  One Leaf, Two Leaves,Count with Me! by John Micklos Jr.

Beanstalks

What a wonderful two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we talked about fire safety and read all about the different things firefighters use to keep us safe! This week we studied trees and leaves. We used forks to make painted trees and went for a walk to collect tons of different leaves. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

The past two week we have loved learning about fire safety, trees and leaves. Last week we learned all about fire safety. Thoughout the week we talked about firefighters, fire trucks, and what is at a fire station. Through the week we measured fire hoses, matched letters, and scrunched tissue paper to make our own fire! Our favorite books from the week were The Little Fire Engine by Lois Lenski and A Fire Truck Named Red by Randall Sere. This week we are learning all about trees and leaves. We have learned about the life cycle of a tree, the parts of a tree, and how trees look in all seasons. Throughout the week we painted leaves on our own tree, sorted leaves by size and collected our own leaves while on a walk. Our favorite books from the week were Tree by Britta Teckentrup and Hello Fall by Gilda Berger. During both weeks we worked on our pen grip and strengthened our fine motor muscles using play-doh. We are looking forward to learning more about trees/leaves and Halloween in the next two weeks!

PreK 3

Pre K 3 have been busy little children.

Last week, we learned about Fire Prevention and Safety. The children had a blast with our visit from our firefighter. Firefighter Bittar visited us with all his gear!  We tried on his fire jacket, helmet, and boots. Thank you Firefighter Bittar and to all the Firefighters that keep us safe!

In the classroom, the children learned Stop, Drop and Roll, and who to call if there is an emergency 911!  We painted a fire with our hand print, glued a fire truck together and glued colored papers to form the number 911. The children practiced their numbers by counting the number of rungs on ladders.  At the end of the week, we spent some time at Lions park.

This week, we discussed our Five Senses! The children tasted bananas, apples and orange and decided on which one was their favorite. They guessed the smell in the containers!  We had 5 containers filled with spices. We had fun feeling items in a bag and guessing what could be in them. The children also found items in the rice!

We sorted items that we could taste and hear!

Some of our favorite books were Sparky The Fire Dog by Don Hoffman, Clifford The Firehouse Dog by Norman Bridwell, I Hear A Pickle by Rachel Isador and Listen, Listen  by Phillis Gershator.

PreK 4

Over the past two weeks, the children have been learning all about fire safety and nocturnal animals! We learned how to Stop, Drop, and Roll and practiced a fire drill! We also focused on owls and learned about the parts of an owl and their life cycle. Our favorite books were Firefighter Pete  by James Dean and Little Owl’s Night by Divya Srinivasan.

In our journals, we pondered what we would do if we were nocturnal animals and what to do if you see smoke. We have been working on matching lowercase and uppercase letters and counting up to 10. We are also working on 1:1 correspondence and simple patterns. We’ve been working on writing uppercase letters independently and using the correct path of motion. We continued our Handwriting Without Tears unit and completed letters V, W, U, and L. We’re doing great!

We enjoyed all of our fun activities like Stretch and Grow, gymnastics and Elefante Music. Next week, we will continue our study on nocturnal animals with a focus on bats and spiders. Have a great weekend!
