Sproutlings News – February 12, 2018

On Friday, January 16th, our teachers had a Professional Development day at Sproutlings. Topics covered included CPR & First Aid, Developmental Milestones, and Engaging Read-Alouds. Teachers were given opportunities to collaborate. It was a great day!

One of our favorite things to do is dance in front of our mirror.  We love ❤️ looking at ourselves.  We’ve been playing with our toy phone and making some pretty important calls.  We also crawled through our tunnel.  It’s always a treat when we can play in it.  Some of us have been trying to jump.  We’re finding it isn’t easy, but we will keep trying. Our book this week was Elmo’s Fuzzy Valentine by Naomi Klienberg and our song was “Baby Bumble Bee.” ?

We had a very busy two weeks! We’ve been getting into the Valentine’s Day mood!  We had a great time learning/exploring what things are the color red and pink. We made heart stamps with sponges and then made Love Bugs with using our handprints.  The seedlings were so excited to finally go outside. How we miss the outdoors and the playground!
We had a fun working on our gross motor by using the climber.  We love climbing up the steps and walking or sliding down the ramp! We also have been throwing plush balls.  The  Seedlings have some great arms!  We loved our Valentine’s Day Party!!! The Seedlings had a great time celebrating it with all their friends.  Thank to all the parents who brought something in to help with the celebration. The children loved getting to eat some special treats. We would like to welcome Miss Ligia to the Seedlings.  It has been a real pleasure having a new staff member in the room. She has a great rapport with the children and they just love her. And it has been such a pleasure working with her as well.

Little Sprouts

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Little Sprouts class! This week we talked about the holiday of love and friendship. We read Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse by Laura Numeroff and danced around to Barney’s “I Love You!”  For art, we worked so hard to decorate our Valentine’s Day mailbox. We also sponge painted hearts and used dot markers to color a heart. Little Sprouts also celebrated with a party! Thank you to all the parents who contributed.

We’ve been having so much fun singing songs during our music class with Miss Robin. We also had a great time with our Elefante Music teacher and exercising in our Stretch-N-Grow class! And from everyone in the Little Sprouts classroom, who hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day!

This past week we studied the letter M. We came up with words that start with M. We also finished up our study on buildings. The Beanstalks have enjoyed constructing buildings with different materials. We also have loved celebrating Valentine’s Day. We made hearts with red paint and enjoyed making a Valentine’s Day mailbox. Thank you to all the parents who contributed to our Valentine’s Day party. We had a blast! Our next study will be on pets.
