We had a great turnout and the children had a wonderful time riding in support of such an important cause. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success. Peapods

The Peapods have been very busy these past two weeks! Our little ones are on the move! We officially have three walkers in the class, and it is such a joy watching them explore on the go. Additionally, some of our younger friends have started crawling, which has opened up a whole new world of discovery for them. To burn off all that energy, we’ve been loving our daily walks and enjoying our playtime in both the indoor and outdoor playgrounds. We are so proud of how our friends are developing their communication skills through signing. They are getting better every day! This week, we focused on identifying parts of the body. Our song of the week was “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” which brought lots of smiles and movement to our circle time. Peapods have been working hard on special Mother’s Day gifts. We are so excited to share what they’ve made! Happy Mother’s Day to all of our amazing moms!

Peapods II

Happy May! We have been enjoying the new month and the beautiful weather. Going outside has been the highlight of our day! Over the last two weeks we talked about outer space! We read a new book titled Pete the Cat Out of This World by James Dean. We have also taken an interest in dancing with our friends, when the music comes on we love finding a friend to share our moves with! We are doing great at addressing our friends by their name and asking each other to play. We are so proud of Peapods 2 and we can’t wait to see what the rest of this month brings!

Seedlings

The Seedlings have been very busy these past couple of weeks. We have been loving the beautiful weather and having so much fun going down the slide, running around, jumping off the mushrooms, and holding hands with our friends. We learned about spring and made beautiful flowers. We also had fun coloring bumblebees and creating our own stripes. We absolutely loved our zoo theme. Everyone brought in their favorite stuffed animal, and it was wonderful to learn about each child’s favorite animal and its name. We loved seeing how creative everyone is. We had a great time in our sensory bin, cleaning our zoo animals with sponges and making lots of bubbles. We also made paper plate lions and created animal tracks using different animals and paint. During circle time we read Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell, and it has easily become one of our class favorites! We love lifting up the lap and identifying the animal that’s underneath it and saying their sounds. The song has been “We’re going on a lion hunt!” And the Seedlings love the part where we have to run away. We have been working on a special secret project as well. We hope all of our mothers have a fantastic Mother’s Day. We also want to thank everyone for Teacher Appreciation Week. Your kindness means so much.

Little Sprouts

The past two weeks have been filled with fun and learning as we explored two exciting themes: Insects and Zoo. We started every day with circle time! Storytime was a big hit! We enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae. Our young artists stayed busy creating wonderful art projects! We want to wish all the moms a happy Mother’s Day and thank you for making teacher appreciation week so special! We hope you have a great weekend!!

Beanstalks

We had so much fun these past two weeks in Beanstalks! We spent the time learning all about flowers and plants. We began by discussing the life cycle of a seed and read “The Carrot Seed” by Ruth Krauss during circle time. In small groups, each child had the opportunity to add dirt and grass seeds to their own pots and water their plants. Our sensory bin has also been transformed into a garden complete with soil, flowers, shovels, and small cups. Additionally, we worked on color sorting with flowers and practiced letter identification by creating “name flowers” using the letters of each child’s name. We have continued to enjoy playing with the coaches during Stretch and Grow and singing with our music teacher, Ms. Stephanie! Over the next week, we will move on to learning about insects.

Beanstalks II

What a great two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks II. We’ve spent both weeks learning so much about plants and flowers. We have been very interested in growing our own plants, from decorating the pots to watering the sprouts, we’ve been so excited to check how much they’ve grown. We really enjoyed reading Flowers Are Calling by Rita Gray. This week we loved getting to explore color mixing and the effect that different painting tools have on our art. Our favorite book this week was Sunflower House by Eve Bunting. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, a fantastic Mother’s Day, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

Another fun week in Saplings! We had so much fun wrapping up our adventures learning about Earth Day and recycling by taking a trip to our school’s recycling bin and practicing recycling items all by ourselves! After learning all about Earth Day, we began our new exploration of plants and flowers! We learned about the different parts of a flower by building them with letters and numbers. We also discovered how flowers are planted by planting our very own seeds in flower pots that we painted ourselves! We enjoyed reading exciting books like Zinnia’s Flower Garden and Grow Flower Grow! We can’t wait to see all the fun things we’ll be learning about next week!

Pre-K 3

The past two weeks have been all about plants and flowers in the classroom! Many fun activities and experiments have been happening and we can’t wait to tell you all about it. The students have been planting and watering their own sunflower seeds and some have even begun to sprout! We’ve been measuring the lengths of flowers and also sorting them into small, medium, and large categories. The students have been using scissors and glue constantly to create beautiful crafts and even execute those fine motor skills using beads! On top of all the flower fun, the students have been learning all about how seeds grow! They love hearing all about the different kinds of plants that we eat and how they are all different in their own ways. Of course after all that learning, we need to get some energy out in tennis and relax in yoga. After all, we’ve been reading so many books such as “The Life Cycle of a Sunflower” by Linda Tagliaferro, “Plants Can’t Sit Still” by Rebecca E. Hirsch, “The Tiny Seed” by Eric Carle, and “Plants Feed Me” by Liza Rockwell.

Pre-K 4

Pre-K 4 has loved learning about butterflies and farms over the last 2 weeks! While discussing butterflies we learned about the lifecycle of a butterfly, types of butterflies, and what symmetry means. This week we are learning about farms. We have discussed what farmers do, the lifecycle cycle of a chicken, and facts about different farm animals. Throughout both weeks we have been working on matching rhymes, counting syllables, and matching uppercase and lowercase letters. We have also been practicing addition and comparing more or less in our math activities. We are looking forward to learning about the zoo next week!
