Please make sure you have your keycard to enter the building. For security purposes the keycard registers who is entering the building. If you have mislaid your card, please let us know so that we can deactivate it and issue you a new one. There will be a $15 charge for new keycards. If you do not have your keycard at pick up or drop off, please expect a wait. Please do not hold the door open for anyone that you do not know.

It has been a busy and joyful time in our room! Our little ones have been absolutely thriving lately! They are constantly on the move, getting better at communicating their needs, and making the best memories together. Outdoor play is always a highlight, filled with running around and giggling with friends. Back inside, circle time is a major hit — they love being read to and dancing along to their favorite tunes. We are even practicing body parts with “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” and mastering our animal noises during “Old MacDonald.” It is wonderful to watch them learn and grow every day! Can’t wait to see what the new month has in store for us!

Happy June! It is finally starting to feel like summer and we are so excited! We’ve been enjoying the warm days outside and running around with our friends. Over the last few days we have been preparing for our move to Seedlings! We’ve been taking visits down to our new classroom to check out what exciting things are to come. We read a new book titled Ocean Life by Jill McDonald — our favorite page is the one with crabs on it. Dancing and singing has become one of our favorite things to do. We love holding hands with each other while we show off our cool moves! We’re looking forward to the rest of the month spent together and enjoying these warm summer days!

The Seedlings have been having so much fun over the past couple of weeks! We absolutely love playing on the playground, and when it gets too hot, we enjoy cooling down with a refreshing mist of water. We’ve been learning all about insects and transportation and have loved every minute of it! We made adorable handprint ladybugs and enjoyed looking at them near the changing area. We also created beautiful butterflies by painting with Q-tips. For our transportation theme, we made yellow submarines and listened to Yellow Submarine by The Beatles. The Seedlings also made their own traffic lights and practiced identifying colors and shapes. Some of us even got them all correct! During circle time, we read Calling All Cars by Sue Fliess and Sarah Beise and sang a class favorite, “I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee.”

The past two weeks have been filled with fun and learning as we explored two exciting themes: Farmer’s Market and circus/carnival! We started each day with circle time, where the children enjoyed singing songs, sharing with friends, and learning together. Story time was a big hit as we read Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin and Spot Goes to the Circus by Eric Hill! Our little artists stayed busy creating wonderful projects, including paper fruit bowls, bubble wrap broccoli, handprint clowns, paper plate elephants and shaving cream cotton candy! The kids enjoyed doing some matching activities and some fun sensory bin activities!

Over the past two weeks, the children have been excitedly exploring our Construction theme! We began by learning about construction workers, discussing what they wear to stay safe on the job, the tools they use, and the vehicles they need to complete their work. The children enjoyed talking about the different structures construction workers build, such as houses, roads, and buildings. Through imaginative play, they pretended to be construction workers themselves, using toy tools and wooden blocks to design and build their own creations. Math skills were incorporated into our construction activities as the children practiced counting while building block towers. Our letter focus was T for Tools. The children practiced recognizing the letter T and saying the sound. One of the children’s favorite activities was our construction site sensory bin. Using construction vehicles in the sand, they scooped, pushed, dug, and transported materials just like real construction workers. The children also practiced important STEM skills by creating patterns and balancing items while stacking cups and cardboard to build towers. Music was a fun part of our learning experience as well! The children especially enjoyed singing and moving along to “I’m a Little Dump Truck” and “I’m an Excavator.” They also enjoyed reading The Three Little Pigs, Bulldozer’s Big Day, and Pete the Cat and the Tip-Top Tree House. The children had a wonderful time during Stretch and Grow and during music with Ms. Stefanie.

What an exciting two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks II. Last week we learned all about space and our solar system. We were very excited to hone our fine motor skills by using q-tips to make constellations of our names. We really enjoyed reading There’s No Place Like Space: All About Our Solar System by Dr. Seuss. This week we are talking about construction and all the different buildings in our community. We loved getting to use our blocks as stamps and creating our own City of Shapes! Our favorite book this week was Curious George and the Dump Truck by Margaret and H.A. Rey.

Another great week here in Saplings! Last week, we learned all about Space, and this week we began exploring the exciting world of Construction! To start our exploration of Space, we practiced our fine motor skills by creating our very own planets using markers and glitter. We also learned about constellations by placing stickers on paper and connecting the stars to make different patterns. We ended our week by counting stars, which was a lot of fun! After learning all about Space, we moved on to exploring Construction. We learned about the important jobs construction workers do by building our own letters and numbers. We also discovered how construction workers build houses by creating houses out of popsicle sticks. In addition, we practiced our scissor skills by cutting paint chips, which was a favorite activity for many of us! We also enjoyed reading some wonderful stories this week, including The Magic School Bus, There’s No Place Like Space!, and Building a House. We can’t wait to continue exploring and learning new things next week!

We’ve had another great two weeks of learning in PreK-3! Last week, we learned all about Space, and this week we began exploring Construction! We learned about constellations by placing stickers on paper and connecting the stars to make different patterns. We also learned how and who goes to space! We practiced our pencil grip a lot this week by tracing the letters in our names to make a rocket ship! Some of our favorite stories from Space week were Little Comet and There was an Old Astronaut Who Swallowed the Moon! This week, we started learning about Construction! We learned about the important jobs construction workers do and the tools they use! We also discovered how construction workers build houses by using legos, lincoln logs and straw to build our own buildings! We also made buildings with different shaped paper. We made our own tool boxes for tools! Our story we enjoyed this week was The Three Little Pigs. We are excited to continue our exploring and learning about Construction next week!

This is a very exciting time for the children in Pre K 4 as we prepare for graduation!! The children have been practicing their songs and working on memorabilia! They enjoyed stories such as Kindergarten Here I Come by D.J. Steinberg and The Night Before Kindergarten by Natasha Wing. We continue to work on our number recognition and counting quantities as well as comparing number groups. The children finished their journal entries for the year and are continuing to work on letter sounds, syllables and word families. We will continue to practice for our graduation ceremony over the next week and are looking forward to seeing you on Friday, June 12th at 4pm!
