Peapods

We have had such an adventurous few weeks in the Peapods room! Our little ones have been exploring, moving, and reaching some very exciting milestones. The room is officially in motion! We have one official walker, and many other friends are starting to take their first brave steps. It is such a joy to watch their confidence grow! We’ve loved our time on the playground. The fresh air is so much fun! Our classroom tunnel has been the “star of the show” lately. Crawling in and out of it is easily everyone’s favorite activity! We got very messy with some colorful finger painting! It was a full sensory experience, and the colorful results were worth it. Finally, our current classroom favorites are “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and “The Wheels on the Bus.” We are doing a fantastic job learning the hand motions and acting out the lyrics!

Peapods II

Over the last two weeks exciting things have been happening in Peapods 2! We started off by visiting the baby chicks upstairs, this was an exciting thing for all of Sproutlings and visiting them made our days super special. We spent the week talking and learning about pets. A photo album was created and it featured some of our pets. We loved flipping through the pages and pointing at the cats and dogs. A new book was introduced and it’s become one of our favorites, it’s called Pete the Kitty and Baby Animals by James Dean. We’re looking forward to the remainder of April and all of the exciting things spring will bring!

Seedlings

What a fast couple of weeks it has been when you’re having fun! We have been having a fantastic time learning about the weather and pets. The Seedlings made inkblot clouds, and everyone’s artwork was so unique. We also made a rainbow collage and painted eggs. During Pet Week, we had fun gluing feathers onto our birds, creating dot art cats, and coloring dogs. In our sensory bin, we explored paper grass, eggs, and tongs. It was so much fun digging through the paper grass and using the tongs to pick up the eggs. During circle time, we read Dogs by Emily Gravett, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorites! We have also been learning to sing and clap along to “BINGO.” We just want to clap all the time. We have a classroom pet, ladybugs! It has been so exciting to watch them grow and transform into ladybugs.

Little Sprouts

The past two weeks have been filled with fun and learning as we explored two exciting themes: plants and the farm! Each morning, we started our day with our Good Morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted together as a class. Storytime was a big hit! We enjoyed reading Hello, World! Garden Time by Jill McDonald and The Busy Little Tractor by Joe Rhatigan. Our young artists stayed busy creating wonderful projects. We made printed flowers and used forks to paint beautiful flower gardens. We also painted tractors and a barn, and even used cotton balls to create sheep! We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Beanstalks

We had so much fun these past two weeks in Beanstalks learning about farms and birds! For Farm Week, we started each morning by singing “Old MacDonald” and reading books like Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin and Farm Animals by Dorling Kindersley. The children enjoyed a puzzle matching adult animals to their babies, and our sensory bin was filled with farm animals and kinetic sand. For crafts, the children created cows using ripped black paper and made sheep using cotton balls and white paint. During the Bird portion of our curriculum, we decorated our class tree with birds the children made themselves. The children practiced their cutting and gluing skills to create birds using feathers, eyes, and wings. We also looked at our lift-the-flap board with bird pictures. This week the class books were Peely Wally by Kali Stileman and Silly Tilly by Eileen Spinelli. The children practiced scooping rice with spoons in a “bird’s nest” sensory bin and participated in an activity to “feed a hungry bird” to work on their fine motor skills. We are also focusing on matching, color sorting, and counting with birds this week. We had a great time staying active with our coaches during Stretch and Grow! Over the next weeks, we will continue our learning about birds before learning about Earth Day!

Beanstalks II

It has been a fantastic two weeks here in Beanstalks II. We have been excited to watch our caterpillars grow and are happy to report that they have all successfully entered their cocoons! Last week, we explored the theme of Farms. The children enjoyed learning about farm animals and discussing what they would grow as farmers. We also had a great time measuring and pouring colorful rice in our sensory bin. Our favorite book was Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin. This week, our focus shifted to birds. The children loved practicing their scissor skills by snipping “feathers” for their bird crafts. Our favorite book this week was Feathers for Lunch by Lois Ehlert, and we look forward to continuing our lesson on birds next week. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Saplings

Another exciting week here in Saplings! We began by learning all about farms and the animals that live there, then transitioned into exploring the wonderful world of birds. Our friends enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities throughout the week. From creating paper plate cows and pigs to learning how farmers plant seeds and grow food, the children stayed busy and engaged while building their understanding of farm life. As we moved into our bird study, the excitement continued! We made our very own bird nests and practiced name recognition by spelling our names with eggs. We also explored feathers through a fun science activity, discovering whether they float or sink—this was definitely a class favorite! Some of the books we enjoyed reading together included Down on the Farm, Egg-napped!, and Feathers for Lunch. We are looking forward to another week full of learning, creativity, and exploration!

Pre-K 3

After learning so much about pond life and frogs, the students were ready to tackle some bigger animals! Last week was filled with farms, crafts, egg hunts and reading. We looked at some baby chicks, sorted farm animals, and played some counting games. Then, of course, we had a very fun egg hunt in the classroom to begin the Easter celebrations! After a nice break, we came back and started strong working on some fine motor skills! The students handwriting, scissor skills, and tweezer skills are all progressing very beautifully! They loved cutting feathers and picking up “eggs” with tweezers to get those muscles nice and strong. Along with all these great things came a new music teacher to teach the students more about the joys of music! So many exciting things and more to come as April goes on. The children’s favorites this week were Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown, Mrs. Brown Went to Town by Wong Herbert Yee, Woolbur by Leslie Helakoski, Flap Your Wings by P.D. Eastman, and Bird Singing, Bird Winging by Marilyn Singer.

Pre-K 4

The past 2 weeks PreK4 had been learning about frogs & insects. We were sad to see the chicks leave but were excited to welcome out insects. Ms. Alice’s room has caterpillars, Ms. Jen’s room has ladybugs & Ms. Kelly’s room has praying mantis! We get to learn about their life cycles & watch them transform & grow. We also discussed what frogs can do, have & are as well as identified their different parts. Over the past two weeks we also have been working on uppercase and lowercase matching, beginning letter sounds & syllables. We did ladybug math, measuring and worked on identifying numbers that are more or less. Next week we get to learn about plants.
