Summer Camp at Sproutlings

Camp last week was all about dinosaurs and the children had lots of fun when they were visited by Terry the T-Rex and his friends.

This week we are gardening at camp and our field trip took us to Hillview Farm to pick peaches.

We have lots of special memories and had lots of fun at Summer Camp this year. We wish all our campers the best for the 2024-2025 school year.

Peapods

Peapods

The Peapods have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather we’ve been having. They have enjoyed going on walks and watching the “ big” kids play in the playground. We especially love when they come and talk to us.
We have taken out our tunnel and are attempting to crawl through it. Some of us have gone through it while others would rather watch. It takes time ,but eventually everyone enjoys going through it!
One of the books Ms. Lu read to us was Best Bear by Emma Dodd. We enjoyed it very much.

Peapods II

Peapods 2 has had a successful and eventful two weeks. Some of our friends have learnt new words while others have been practicing their signing. With summer ending, water play has ended but our friends have had great fun exploring water and getting wet. These past two weeks we have been listening to ‘We’re Going on a Dinosaur Hunt’ and we’ve read Where’s the Lady Bug? by Ingela P Arrhenius. It has been lots of fun and we cannot wait to see what September holds for us!

Seedlings

The Seedlings had such a great time this summer! They enjoyed the water tables and the splash pad all summer. This week they have been enjoying the Fall weather.

We’ve been excited to do group projects and love seeing them on our walls!  We have been practicing vertical lines and working our fine motor skills by using stickers on the white paper.

During circle time,  we read Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and we love repeating the “hush” part and putting our finger to our lips. We sang  “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” and the Seedlings love to make their own little spiders with their fingers.

Little Sprouts

Little Sprouts has had so much fun learning about Pirates and Dinosaurs! Some of our favorite things were drawing on our magnetic drawing boards, using jumbo crayons to color our giant dinosaur, using our toys dinosaur and paint to make dinosaurs tracks, and paint sensory on the table. During circle time we sang our Good Morning song, talked about the weather and dressed up our weather bear. We loved reading Ten Terrible Dinosaurs  by Paul Stickland and  Pete the Cat and The Treasure Map  by James Dean.

Beanstalks

What a great two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we talked about pirates and mermaids and got to make our very own pirate hats! This week we discussed birds, and talked about whether or not we’d like to keep them as a pet.  We even worked together to build a class nest!  We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

We had so much fun learning about sharks and dinosaurs in the past 2 weeks!

Last week we learned all about sharks. We had a great time feeding letters to a shark and painting an ocean for our shark to live in. We talked about the parts of and types of shark and what our favorite type of shark is. Our favorite books from the week were Smiley Shark by Ruth Galloway and The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark by Julia Gorton.  This week we discussed dinosaurs. We dug for fossils in our sensory table, sorted dinosaurs by size and color, and made our own dinosaurs skeletons using Q-tips. Also, we talked about different dinosaurs, where they can live, and measured how many of our feet can fit in a dinosaur footprint. Our favorite books from this week were Ten Terrible Dinosaurs by Paul Stickland  and When Dinosaurs Go Visiting by Linda Martin.  We worked on recognizing number 1-5 and the letters in our name.

PreK 3

This has been a very busy summer. Along with Stretch and Grow, we all had fun with water play, walks and learning. The past few weeks, Pre K 3 has been learning about sharks and dinosaurs!

We practiced our letters while feeding letter fish to a shark. We sorted and counted sharks and painted a shark. We learned about the parts of a and types of shark. Some of the books we read were I Am A Shark by Darlene Stille, Walter The Whale Shark by Katrina Crow.

The children are having a fun time learning about dinosaurs. The children sorted dinosaurs by color and size, practice holding the pencil correctly while stenciling and coloring dinosaurs and made a dinosaur from different shapes. The children also used their hand eye coordination to lace dinosaurs and clip scales (clothes pins) on the dinosaur!  They also created fossils. We enjoyed reading Danny The Dinosaur by Syd Hoff and Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner.

PreK 4

Over the past two weeks, the children have been learning about birds and dinosaurs! We learned about what makes a bird a bird and compared different beaks and feathers. During dinosaur week, we learned about different dinosaurs and what paleontologists do! Our favorite books were Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems and Curious George’s Dinosaur Dig by Margaret & H.A. Rey.

In our journals, we wondered what we know about dinosaurs and what birds use to build their nests. We are so creative with our responses! We have been practicing identifying uppercase letters and counting up to 10. We’ve also been hard at work writing uppercase letters independently. We’re doing great!

We enjoyed all of our fun activities like our field trip to see the dinosaurs, swim, and Stretch and Grow. Have a great weekend!
