Peapods

Peapods

The Peapods have been having so much fun. We now have a walker and another starting too! We’re really getting around!
We have been working on signing “all gone”. We are doing really well using it. We will soon start practicing signing “eat”.
We have been having fun rolling balls back and forth, and sometimes throwing them too. Some of us have really good arms! The tunnel is becoming a favorite of ours and we get excited when it’s brought out. We have lots of fun chasing each other through it.
One of our books was Chicka Chicka 123 by Bill Martin Jr, Michael Sampson, Lois Ehlert.

Peapods II

It’s been another busy two weeks in Peapods 2! We celebrated Valentine’s Day and had the best time. We have been doing great with our signing and some of us are ever using our words! We love singing “Wheels on the Bus” and acting it out. In the indoor playground we have been enjoying crawling through the tunnel and throwing the balls with our friends. Using the bubble machine has become one of our favorite things to do and we have been doing a great job using our words to ask for bubbles. During mealtimes we have been practicing our fine motor skills by using utensils to eat our food. We can’t believe February is coming to an end but we are looking forward to the spring days and being able to spend time outside!

Seedlings

Wow! What a great time we’ve been having in our room! We’ve been having a thrilling time decorating for Valentine’s Day. The children thought it was really silly and ticklish to make our artwork with our feet prints. We loved how they turned out.  The Seedlings also loved using sponges to paint our hearts with different colors. It was amazing to see all the different prints and colors everyone did. For dentist week, we painted a tooth and toothbrush. It was nice to talk to the kids about where are our teeth are and that Mommy and Daddy brush our teeth for us.

During circle time, we read My Toothbrush Is Missing by Jan Thomas and sang and danced to “My Shiny Teeth and Me!”.

We want to thank all our wonderful parents who made our class party happen! It was fantastic and all of the kids loved it!

Little Sprouts

Little Sprouts hopes everyone had a great long weekend! The kids were excited to learn about Valentine’s Day and Dental health. We started each day by singing the “Good Morning” song, reviewing the days of the week, practicing our ABCs, and counting numbers. The children also loved dressing up our weather bear to match the day’s weather. The kinds enjoyed doing marble painting hearts and coloring ladybugs. We also loved ripping up white tissue paper and gluing it on our tooth worksheet. The kids loved reading Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and My Friend Toothy by Stacey Laviolette.

Beanstalks

What a lovely two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks! Last week we discussed Valentine’s Day. We were so excited to shake all the marbles around to paint our hearts. We really enjoyed reading Happy Valentine’s Day, Curious George by H. A. Rey and N. Di Angelo and singing “H-E-A-R-T” by the Kiboomers. This week we are learning about Dental Health. We loved talking about all the ways we can work to keep our teeth healthy. We used dot markers to make super colorful toothbrushes! Our favorite book this week was Just Going to the Dentist by Mercer Mayer. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

We have loved learning about Valentine’s Day and dental health the past two weeks. Last week, we learned about Valentine’s Day. We talked about how you can be kind, how you can be a good friend, and what makes us happy. Through the week we worked together to match up letters, match shapes, and made heart collages. Our favorite books from the week were Hedgehugs by Steve Wilson and How Dinosaurs Stay Friends by Jane Yolen. This week we are learning about our teeth and dental health. We have discussed the parts of our teeth, when we brush our teeth, and where we brush our teeth. We were so excited to have a visit from Pearly Whites. Our favorite books from this week were Bear’s Loose Tooth by Karma Wilson and Titus’ Troublesome Tooth by Linda Jenning. We are looking forward to learning about our body and the pond in the next two weeks!

PreK 3

Prek3 enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day all week last week!  All of the children decorated their own mailboxes and participated in a card exchange with their classmates. We learned about the popular shape and colors related to Valentine’s Day and talked about the best way to show someone you love them! The children reviewed letters and numbers using hearts, sponge painted a very special craft for their families, and made lovely tissue paper “stained glass” hearts for their windows at home. Some of our favorite books were Dino Valentine’s Day by Lisa Wheeler, The Day it Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond, and The Biggest Valentine Ever by Steven Knoll.

This week Prek3 has been learning about Healthy Food.

Fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, grains, and fats….we’ve been learning about what makes up a balanced diet. The children have sorted food by color and group. We’ve talked about what is a healthy food choice vs. a sometimes food choice. Identifying and graphing food by touch was a project everyone enjoyed participating in! Some of our favorite books this week have been Healthy Eating by Claire Llewellyn,  A Balanced Diet by Catherine Veitch, and Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert.

This week, in addition to Music, Stretch and Grow, and Yoga and Ballet, we had a visit from Pearly Whites, a dental office in Berkeley Heights!  They provided a delightful presentation to the children about the importance of caring for their teeth properly!

PreK 4

This week in Pre K 4 we enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day and learning how kindness counts. Additionally,  the children have been learning about their bodies and how to keep them healthy. We talked  about healthy food choices and the importance of exercise. The children enjoyed reading books such as Taste Your Words by Bonnie Clark,  Inside Your Outside All About the Human Body by Tish Rabe and Turkey’s Valentines Surprise by Wendi Silvano.

We worked on lowercase letters m,h,b and f in our Handwriting Without Tears workbook and practiced those letters while writing about kindness in our journals. The children continued to work on syllables and rhyming words as well.

Using hearts, the children colored, cut and glued them in  order filling in the numbers that were missing. We counted germs in the form of tally marks and used a tooth brush to erase the numbers from the tooth.

Next week the children will be learning all about dental health.
