Sproutlings Calendar

Stay connected with Sproutlings and get a peek into our daily adventures! Like our page on Facebook to join our community of caring families and see how we make learning fun every day! If your little one loves it here, we’d be so grateful if you left us a review! It helps other families find a place they can trust, too!

Peapods

We have been busy enjoying playing with our big soft blocks. We love to knock them down when we see them stacked up. It’s also fun to be able to move on our own and be able to grab our toys. It’s a good feeling! Music is one of our favorite things. We love to clap to songs! We especially like “If You’re Happy and You Know It”. One of our books was I Love My Mommy by Catherine  Vase. We sat and listened to it so well!
We also wanted to thank our parents again for such a lovely Teacher Appreciation Week.  Everything was very much appreciated.

Peapods II

Peapods 2 would like to thank everyone for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special! We are so lucky to be able to spend our days growing and learning with your children! Over the last two weeks we talked about Space and The Zoo. We read a new book entitled Pete the Cat: Out of This World by James Dean.

We have been practicing using our words to communicate with our friends and teachers. We made Americans flags in preparation for Memorial Day which you can see displayed in our front lobby. During this activity, we practiced our fine motor skills by picking up strips of paper and sticking it to a larger piece of paper. We are getting so close to summer and we can hardly wait. We can’t wait to see what we will learn next!

Seedlings

We made the most of the dry weather by heading outside! The Seedlings loved climbing, sliding, and running around the playground—it’s great for building their gross motor muscles and balance.

When we were inside, we focused on fine motor skills using blocks, puzzles, and peg toys. The children absolutely loved these activities and are becoming quite skilled! We were amazed at how high they could stack the pegs into towers, and it was so much fun counting how many we could build.

For art, we made paper plate lions by gluing different colors of yarn for the manes. We also created moons by stamping aluminum foil dipped in paint. It was a fun sensory experience!

During circle time, we read Where’s the Astronaut? by Ingela P. Arrhenius. It’s a classroom favorite, and the children always want to read it again and again! We also sang “Going on a Lion Hunt” for our zoo theme, and the kids had so much fun stomping around the room like wild animals.

A big thank you to all the parents for your generosity during Teacher Appreciation Week—we truly appreciate your kindness and support!

Little Sprouts

The past two weeks have been full of fun, learning, and laughter! We explored two exciting themes the Zoo and Space. Each morning, we started our day with our good morning song, practiced the days of the week, reviewed our ABCs, and counted our numbers together. We read some great books including Rocket Town by Bob Logan and Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. For art, we made a water color Lion and handprint aliens! The kids especially enjoyed using their imaginations during movement/playtime like walking carefully across the rainbow plank, getting active with the parachute, and creating all kinds of shapes and creatures with play-dough. We hope everyone has had great weekend!

Beanstalks

What a fantastic two weeks we’ve had here in Beanstalks. Last week we discussed bugs and insects. We were so excited about going bug hunting during our outside time. We really enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and singing “I’m Bringing Home A Baby Bumblebee.” This week we are learning about ocean life. We loved talking about our favorite sea animals. We practiced our name spelling using schools of fish. Our favorite book this week was Five Little Sharks Swimming In The Sea by Steve Metzger. We hope you all have a safe and happy weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

Saplings

Over the last two weeks, we have loved learning about butterflies and pets. Last week we learned about butterflies. We discussed the types of butterflies, parts of a butterfly, and the life cycle of a butterfly. Throughout the week we painted butterflies, made caterpillars with our names, and built number caterpillars. Our favorite books from the week were Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar by James Dean and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. This week we are learning about pets. We have discussed what pets we have, the parts of a fish, and what a veterinarian does. We loved painting our own fish bowl, matching shapes, and sorting letters in our name. Our favorite books from the week were 10 Little Hot Dogs by Jim Himmelman and Splat the Cat by Rob Scotton.  We are looking forward to learning about farm and space in the next two weeks!

Pre-K 3

PreK 3 finished learning about pets last week. The children learned where pets live, what they eat, and how to take care of them. Everyone matched pets to their homes, reviewed numbers by playing “feed the bunny” with numbered carrots, honed scissor skills while creating a fish craft, and worked on a STEM project creating special Mother’s Day flowers! Some of our favorite books were – Froggy Gets a Doggy by Jonathan London, Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion, and Not Norman by Kelly Bennett.

This week we have been talking about Space!  The children have been learning about planets, stars, astronauts, rockets, and our galaxy.  We have reviewed the alphabet with planets, reviewed numbers with count + clip cards, and created name rockets using our last names!

A couple of the books we read this week have included – Planets by Elizabeth Carney, Astronaut by Lucy George, and Pete the Cat Out of this World by James Dean.

Our specials each week – Stretch and Grow, Music with Miss Lisa, and field trips to local parks – are always enjoyed by all!

Pre-K 4

In PreK 4 the children have been learning all about farms and zoos.

As we learned about farm life, we talked about what a farmer needs to do in order to take care of animals and crops, as well as different types of farm equipment. We then spent time talking about the job of a zookeeper and the proper care of the animals. The children learned how to classify animals in different ways according to characteristics and habitats. We enjoyed listening to animals stories such as The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone and Edward The Emu by Sheena Knowles.

Literary skills the children worked on were beginning letter sounds, counting syllables and matching rhyming words. They practiced writing the letters s,t,u and v in upper and lowercase form. Math concepts consisted of graphing, number order, patterns and counting in 10 frames.

Next week the children can look forward to learning about camping!
