Peapods

Peapods

Another busy week with the Peapods. We are having so much fun playing with one another. We are learning to play peekaboo with our friends. It’s so much fun and funny! Some of us are also trying new foods. We’re discovering we like it. Our friends who aren’t crawling yet are doing very well with tummy time. It doesn’t hurt if we can look at ourselves in the mirror while we doing it . Pretty soon we will be creeping around. Some of us are also starting to pull themselves up. It won’t be long now until we’re standing.

Ms. Lu read Hurry Up and Slow Down by Layn Marlow. Ms. Laura sang and demonstrated Head Shoulders Knees and Toes.

Peapods II

Oh what fun we had these past two weeks in PP2! We are getting really good at using our listening ears. Especially when it’s time to help our teachers clean up our toys. Almost all of us have learned how to walk and are using our “walking feet” really well in the classroom and hallways. We’re so proud of ourselves for taking the big step!

This week we really enjoyed listening to Ms. KJ read Goodnight New Jersey by Dennis Clark & Joe Veno. We learned about all the many things there is to do in New Jersey.

Have a great weekend from PP2!

Seedlings

As Fall approaches the Seedlings are excited by the crisp air and the changing of the leaves. We have been painting red apples to decorate our room.  We also have been practicing our tower building skills with our pyramid blocks. We’re excited by the different towers and shapes that we can make. It’s thrilling!

The Seedlings played with a different kind of foam puzzle this week.  We had a good time looking at the different pictures on them and working together as a group to make one big square!

During circle time, we read I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen. We absolutely love this book and have a great time identifying all the animals in it.  Our song was “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” and we have a great time jumping and pretending to be the monkeys.

We want to thank Charley for celebrating her 2nd birthday with us and we loved the munchkins!

Little Sprouts

This week Little Sprouts theme was All About Me! We had lots of fun singing songs and reading books. Our favorite song this week was “We are the Dinosaurs” by Laurie Berkner. We love all of her songs. Especially when we dance with scarfs to them! It was so much fun!

We were so happy to be able to run around outside and play on the mushrooms!! Next week we will be learning all about apples!

Beanstalks

This week in Beanstalks it was all about back to school . We enjoyed reading the books Little Blue Truck Goes to School by Alice Schertle,  The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and  Five Little Crayons by Susan Oldham Hill.

We discussed how important school is and what we do at school. We worked on our fine motor skills when we painted a school bus and made a crayon with our name on it.

We also got messy when we used our fingers to trace the first letter of our name in paint.  We sang our circle time songs including  “The Wheels on the Bus“. Our favorite  song this week was “ Five Little Monkeys”, it helped us practice our  numbers using our hand

Pre K 3 and Saplings

Pre K 3 started the official beginning of the school year.

We are learning all about us!

We started off the week coloring school shoes and lacing them. We have been talking about class rules, green and red choices. We created a beautiful picture with many dots of glue and glitter.

We read Pete The Cat Rocking My School Shoes by Eric Letwin, How Do Dinosaurs Go To School by Mark Teague and Too Much Glue by Jason Lefebvre.

Pre K 4

In PreK 4, the children have been enjoying the official beginning of the school year. This week has been all about creating classroom rules, going over class procedures, and learning all about us and our families. The children created self portraits and answered questions about some of their favorite things and about their families. Their favorite books this week were Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell and I’m Gonna Like Me! by Jamie Lee Curtis.

The children matched uppercase letters and recognized and continued patterns. They practiced one to one correspondence and we started our Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Our focus letters were E and F.

In their journals, the children wrote about what they enjoy doing with their family. Next week, the children can look forward to continuing our all about me study and learning about feelings.
