Peapod I

What a week we had.  We were so lucky to have been able to get outside during the spring-like weather.  Some of us have started to visit the Peapod II room.  It’s so nice to play with our new/old friends. It’s a very fun room. We’ve been having fun with our shakers. We always love making noise.  Building with the blocks is always fun. We sometimes can build a pretty high block tower. Something new to us is the crawl through tunnel. Some of us can crawl through it, some, are not too sure  We will keep trying. Our book this week was My Fuzzy Valentine by Naomi Klienberg and our song was “I’m A Little Valentine.”

Peapod II

We had so much fun in Peapods II this week! We were so excited to get out in the warm weather and soak up the sun! We even had a fire drill, we were so surprised by the noise. We also celebrated our friend Kinnley’s birthday. We loved the delicious cupcakes. At the end of the week, some of our friends from Peapod 1 started to visit us. We are so excited to have them join us.  ? Our song of the week was Baby Shark. We love to dance! To celebrate Chinese New Year, we made footprint pigs! Our book this week was The Year of the Pig: Tales From the Chinese Zodiac by Oliver Chin.

Little Sprouts

This week our theme was Chinese New Year in the Little Sprouts classroom! We learned about how 2019 is the year of the pig. We read Dragon Dance by Joan Holub. We sang ‘Gung Hay Fat Choy’ which means Happy New Year in Chinese. Our sensory table was filled with water and all of the animals associated with Chinese New Year. For art, we painted pigs pink. We worked on sorting shapes and matching them to their prospective slots in the lid of a bucket. We are getting better at recognizing them every day. We’ve been enjoying learning new songs and movements during our music class with Miss Michelle from Elefante Music and we can’t wait to see what our coaches from Stretch-N-Grow are going to show us next week. Next week our theme will be Hearts/Valentine’s Day!

Saplings

In Saplings this week we continued our study on buildings.  In literacy we continued practicing our handwriting skills. This week the kids learned how to write the letter “I”. We learned a lot about the Chinese New Year and read lots of books about it! Our favorite book was Dragon Dance. We practiced our scissor skills to make red lanterns and our fine motor skills to fold paper into a dragon!

Pre K 4

The Oaks and the Maples

This week in Pre K 4 and Maples the child learned about hibernation and migration. They enjoyed listening to the  book Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner. Using bear counters, the children added and subtracted bears into a cave.

In honor of Dental Health Month the children have been learning the many ways to take care of our teeth. The children had fun erasing the “dirty lowercase letters” from the mouth picture. In addition to this the children enjoyed learning the many traditions of the Chinese New Year!
