Peapods

Peapods

There have been big changes in the Peapod room. We are thrilled to have six new friends join us.
During these past couple of weeks we have been getting to know each other and our room. Some of us have been able to do a little more exploring then others but we are confident everyone will soon be moving around.
We enjoyed Ms. Lu reading llama llama Gram and Grandpa by Anna Dewdney and Honey by David Ezra Stein. We also enjoyed Ms. Kiera and Ms. Laura singing “Baby Bumble Bee” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”.

Peapods II

It’s hard to believe we’re already so far into September! We’ve been pretty busy here in Peapods 2. We have been enjoying our time getting to know our new friends. We did an art project which involved finger painting. It was a fun way to introduce paint. We explored how it felt in our hands and how we can create something on paper. We’ve been spending a lot of time outside and are so excited for the cool fall days to come. We also read a new book titled Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes by Judy Hindley. We love reading this book and being able to show everyone what we’ve learned from it. The Peapods 2 room can’t wait to see what these next two weeks are going to bring!

Seedlings

What a fantastic time the Seedlings been having, as we settle into our new routine and get to know our new friends. We loved painting apples and school buses. We had fun identifying the colors we used to paint and are really proud to see them decorating the room.  We also glued red and green construction paper to an apple shape. The Seedlings were not used to having some glue of our fingers – it felt funny!

We love our time on the playground so much! Running around, having races, rolling balls to each other, jumping off the mushrooms are a few of of our favorite activities.

During circle time, we’ve been singing and dancing to “Animal Freeze Dance”, it’s one of our new favorites! We read Chicka Chicka 1 2 3 by Bill Martin Jr., Michael Sampson, and Lois Ehlert.

Little Sprouts

Little Sprouts had so much fun learning this week! We enjoyed painting our hands to make emotion monsters. We had fun using dot art markers to color balloons with emotions on them. During center time we used play-dough to make different shapes, built with foam blocks, and played with the animal builders as we acted out the sounds the animals make. We also had fun playing with bubbles and working on our colors! Dancing to the feelings song was so much fun. One of our favorite books this week was The Way I Feel by Janan Cain.

Beanstalks

What a great couple of weeks we’ve had in Beanstalks! Our class gained three new friends and we couldn’t be happier. Last week we got the chance to really show off with our All About Me theme! We made friendship bracelets and made all about me caterpillars with cool facts about ourselves. This week we talked about our feelings! We brainstormed as a class some things we can do when we’re feeling scared, sad, mad, or happy and put them into our own version of “If You’re Happy and You Know It!” We have been singing it on repeat all week! We got to do some drip paint by blowing with straws to make silly faces. We also got to practice using glue to make faces with all different expressions.  We’re feeling so excited to see what the next two weeks will bring! Have a safe and happy weekend, and  we’ll see you Monday!

Beanstalks II

We have been so busy having fun in Beanstalks II. Last week we learned all about our friends. We drew our self portraits while looking at ourselves, we created an all about me caterpillar, and we talked about what we want to be when we grow up. This week we are learning about family and everything that makes a family. We are focusing on our numbers and counting and practicing our scissor skills.

PreK 3

We have had a busy two weeks in Pre-K3! Last week discussed what red and green choices are at large group. We also sat down as a class and came up with our classroom rules. We had fun coloring crayons for our bulletin board. We also got to practice our gluing skills by learning we just need a little dot of glue.

This week we learned all about us! The children made a collage of themselves! They also worked on identifying the letters in their name and counting how many letters are in their name. At large group we shared our all about me pages that we will be making into a book for our library!  We learned that we can all be the same but also different! We read I’m Like You, You’re Like Me by Cindy Gainer and I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont. Next week we’ll be talking about our families! Have a great weekend!

PreK 4

The school year is under way in Pre K 4! We have been discussing ways to make our school year a successful one by creating classroom rules together, learning how to be a good friend and what it means to do our “Best Work”. We also spent time learning about families and how we are unique.

The children enjoyed books such as The Skin You Live In by Michael Tyler and I Don’t Want Curly Hair by Laura Ellen Anderson.

We used colorful people shaped counters to help us learn patterns and one to one correspondence. Using clip cards of family members, the children worked on number recognition.

Our Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) letters were E, F, D and P. The children traced their letters, learning to form the letters starting from the top corner. To help them remember we have enjoyed singing a song which goes along with the HWT curriculum called, “Where Do You Start Your Letters”. In addition to letter practice the children have been writing about what they like to do with their families in their journals.

Next week the children can look forward to learning all about Apples!
